The series was announced by Kevin Feige during The Walt Disney Company's Investor Day on 10 December 2020, but wasn't aired until five years later.
Series star Dominque Thorne appeared with fellow cast member Teyonah Parris in "If Beale Street Could Talk."
In Feb. 2023, The Hollywood Reporter cited unnamed insiders who claim that Ironheart and another MCU series, Echo, both featuring PoC lead characters, would likely be pushed back to 2024 or later, despite both productions having already wrapped filming. Another announcement on Oct. 6, 2023 stated Ironheart had been pushed to 2025. All episodes of Echo were then dropped at once on Jan. 9, 2024.
