The makers unsuccessfully approached famous Hollywood actors Morgan Freeman, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino for doing a key role in the film. Later actor James Cosmo was signed on to play the concerned role.
Dhanush was reportedly unhappy with producer Sashikanth's decision to go for a direct digital release instead of a theatrical release, despite the fact that cinemas were already being reopened during the COVID-19 pandemic.
