Many information sources such as reviews and catalogs state the film's date as being 1978 not 1979. A title card in the opening credits clearly gives the copyright date as 1978. But the picture was not actually first released until 1979. Such information sources can also spell the title differently as well, as one word as with 'Killerfish', or with two words as with 'Killer Fish'.
The film's opening credits roll doesn't start until about ten minutes into the movie.
The movie had three working titles - ''Greed'', ''The Naked Sun'' and ''Deadly Treasure of the Piranha'' before finally settling on ''Killer Fish''. Many promotional materials including movie posters and home video covers though spelled this title as the one word ''Killerfish''.
The film features one Oscar (Academy Award) nominee - Karen Black - and two Golden Globe Award nominees - Lee Majors and Marisa Berenson - and one Golden Globe Award winner - Karen Black, who won two gongs.
