Actor/director/co-writer Peter Riegert personally took this film from town to town, showing it in theaters to build word of mouth. He would usually stay for a day or two to meet and answer audience questions after each showing of the film.

Steve Landesberg provided the voice of "Gregory Peck" in the focus group scene early in the movie. He had done this impersonation on an episode of Barney Miller.
