TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Matt Smith filmed his scenes during his break away from playing The Doctor on Doctor Who (2005). He had to shave his head for the role of Bully and wore a wig for the last episodes of Doctor Who, which were filmed later on.

Thomas McDonald (Skip) was a real-life resident of the now sparsely populated shooting location in Detroit, Michigan.

Following this movie's mixed reception at the Cannes Film Festival, Warner Brothers considered selling the distribution rights to another company. In the end, they decided to release it on a limited platform with a simultaneous on-demand release.

Aris Costner (Marylou a.k.a. Mama Aris) is, in real-life, a nearby resident of the shooting location in Detroit, Michigan, who happened to be passing the gas station when shooting was taking place. Apparently she took a liking to Matt Smith (Bully) and the two developed the scene together.

When Writer, Producer, and Director Ryan Gosling sent a text to Composer Johnny Jewel outlining the influences and intended vibe of this movie, Johnny's reply was "dark Goonies. cool."

Popular Dialogues

"[Bones takes his brother Frankie to Rat] Bones: Can you watch Franky for me? Rat: Why? Bones: 'Cause I'm gonna break the spell."

"[Billy joins Dave at the table to his Big Bad Wolf Club] Billy: I don't really know what it is, but I like it. Dave: Well, it's a place for people to get wild for the night. Fuck being polite."
