This was the second of a planned trilogy, but due to its lackluster box-office performance that idea was shelved.
Jonny Lee Miller who plays Sherlock Holmes in Elementary (2012). Rhys Ifans plays his brother Mycroft in the same series and Sean Pertwee plays Gareth Lastrade. Jude Law plays John Watson in the Sherlock films along side Robert Downey Jr.
Rhys Ifans and Denise Van Outen are the only members of the main cast to play characters whose names are different from their own real names.
For the karaoke scenes, the actors pre-recorded their singing.
Ray Winstone and Kathy Burke previously appeared in Nil by Mouth (1997).
