Sunil Shetty was signed for Arbaaz Khan's role but opted out after a fight with director Tinnu Verma. Tinnu told the producers that Sunil did not look like a Kashmiri. Sunil objected as his dates were already given. This caused them to lash out at each other in the media. They later worked together in Baaz - Bird In Danger.
Film was promoted as Sunny Deol's film as he had back to back hits like Gadar and Indian but when the film released Sunny Deol just had a supporting role where as Arbaaz Khan was the lead.
Sunny Deol was angry with Tinnu Verma for promoting the film with his solo posters all over. Sunny wanted a special appearance billing and was promised so. When the promotion started, he was shocked to see all the focus on him and not on Arbaaz Khan. This caused a falling out with Sunny Deol and Tinnu Verma for a while.
Danny Denzongpa and Mukesh Rishi were signed for the film but both opted out later.
Ajay Devgan was offered Arbaaz Khan's role but declined it as he was filming for the movie Hum Kisise Kum Nahin.
