TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

The 1985 Honda Accord Christine drives in the film was July's own car, passed down from her grandmother.

Miranda July shot with 50-minute tapes so she could have longer takes and would not have to break the flow of the child actors.

The performance piece that Christine Jesperson submits to the museum, in which she admits her failings to a cheering crowd, was also one of several vignettes in a sound-based art project by Miranda July. This project was played on a loop in the elevators of the Whitney Museum of American Art, as part of the museum's 2000 biennial exhibition.

Any time someone in the department store asks for a shoe, they request an 8 1/2.

Characters refer to "Laurelhurst" (misspelled on the computer screen as "Laurelhearst") and "Burnside". Both are notable areas in Portland, Oregon, where writer/director Miranda July used to live. Christine also receives a cellphone call identified as "M & F Dept Store" which probably stands for "Meier & Frank."

Popular Dialogues

"Robby: Say, "You poop into my butt hole and I poop into your butt hole... back and forth... forever.""

"Christine Jesperson: [seeing his bandage] Whoa, what happened? Richard Swersey: You want the short version or the long one? Christine Jesperson: The long one. Richard Swersey: I tried to save my life but it didn't work. Christine Jesperson: Wow. What's the short one? Richard Swersey: I burned it."
