This film reunites Jon Voight and Eric Roberts, since their collaboration in Runaway Train (1985), in which Voight was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor, while Roberts was nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.
This was the third consecutive action film which Keenen Ivory Wayans had starred in. The others include A Low Down Dirty Shame in 1994 and The Glimmer Man co-starring Steven Seagal in 1996.
At the end of the film when James Dunn is watching the news in the TV repair shop, you see both Keenen Ivory Wayans and his stunt double next to each other. He's wearing a Olive Green satin jacket in which Wayans utters "You look just like that guy" as the films' final punchline.
This was the fifth film in which Oscar winner Jon Voight appeared in in 1997. The others include "Anaconda", "U-Turn" and "John Grisham's The Rainmaker." Like this one, Voight played a villain or a villainous character in those films. The only film in which Voight played a good guy or noble character was in "Rosewood" directed by the late John Singleton.
Both Paul Sorvino and Jill Hennessy starred in the NBC series "Law & Order" Sorvino starred in one full season in 1991 - 1992, but left early in the 1992 -1993 season because the cold weather of location in New York City was affecting him and was replaced by Jerry Orbach. Hennessy would be on the show for three seasons starring in 1993 until 1996, when she decided to leave the show to pursue a movie career and this was one of the first projects that she chose to star in along with "A Smile Like Yours" which was also released in 1997.
"Sergeant James Dunn: You live alone? Dr. Victoria Constantini: No, I, I have a boyfriend. He's a cop! Sergeant James Dunn: You don't have a boyfriend. Dr. Victoria Constantini: How do you know? Sergeant James Dunn: There's five empty buckets of Häagen-Dazs in your trash, your legs are stubbly and your hair color needs a touch-up."
"Sergeant James Dunn: Where's your telephone? Dr. Victoria Constantini: It's in my bag. [She stands] Sergeant James Dunn: I'll get it. Wouldn't want you to have another Charlie's Angels flashback. [He finds a stun gun among her things] Dr. Victoria Constantini: It was a gift from my mother. She thinks every psycho in L.A. is coming after me. Who knew?"
