Set in the fictional small town of Tree Hill, North Carolina, this teen-driven drama tells the story of two half brothers, who share a last name and nothing else. Brooding, blue-collar Lucas is a talented street-side basketball player, but his skills are appreciated only by his friends at the river court. Popular, affluent Nathan basks in the hero-worship of the town, as the star of his high school team. Chad Michael Murray was the first actor to be cast in the show, though creator Mark Schwahn originally wanted him to play Nathan, having seen him in bad guy roles before. But Murray himself wanted to play Lucas, because he felt that the character had a back story he could connect more to, since he also experienced being abandoned as a child.
James Lafferty is the only regular cast member to be the actual teenager playing a high school student even though he's already 20 years old by the end of season two.
November 13th, 2017 - It was announced via Hilarie Burton's twitter account that she left the show after six seasons because of sexual and emotional abuse from the series creator Mark Schwahn. It was also revealed that's why she never came back for the final season.
Music was such a huge part of the show that the fictional club Tric was written into the show in Season 2 so the writers could feature more bands and artists.
