The restaurant owner who was talking with Charles, is indeed a real person who rejected giannis and thanasis when they asked him for a job in his restaurant. Instead he promised to give all four brothers a plate of food after school and encouraged them to keep educating themselves.
The movie's tagline, "A king will come from across the sea," is also a translation of the name "Antetokounmpo."
In the first basketball court scene you hear a song with the opening lyrics saying "Ofili". The creator of the song is Francis Ofili Antetokounmpo who is currently having a career in music industry. Also you can hear his music in multiple other scenes.
