Jennifer Coolidge and Josh Duhamel play mother-and-son despite being born only eleven years apart.
At one point in 2019, Ryan Reynolds was set to star in the film as Tom before Armie Hammer was cast in the role. In January 2021, Hammer exited the project amid social media controversy over alleged leaked private messages of his. He was replaced by Josh Duhamel.
Amazon Studios through Prime Video exclusive purchased the film on US distribution due to Lionsgate financial issues to spread out for marketing feature films. Lionsgate will retain theatrical international distribution.
The song Jennifer Coolidge starts for the wedding guests in the pool is 'I'll Be' by Edwin McCain. The same song is played while Hilary Duff and Chad Michael Murray dance in 'A Cinderella Story' (2004), in which Coolidge also appears.
