Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist), alongside her brother Kal-El, was brought to Earth from Krypton to safeguard her young cousin. It was done to avoid the catastrophe that Krypton was going to face years ago. Kara, on the other hand, was accidentally diverted into the limitless Phantom Zone for twenty-four years, only to reach the Earth years later to learn that her cousin had grown into a Superman. As a result, she kept her abilities hidden but an accident compelled her to unveil herself to the public. Why should you watch Supergirl?
This show is excellent not just because of the dramatic twist, but rather because the protagonist represents female empowerment, women's strength and the fact that women must work equally as hard as men to get the same level of recognition. It also addresses real-life issues such as racism, struggles and acceptance, among others. The show has been on the air for seven years, spanning six seasons, with the first episode airing in 2015 and the last episode airing in 2021.
Supergirl as a show has depth in it along with suspense which allows the viewers to make inferences and connect to it. Another thing to like was that normally it is a notion that superheroes are supposed to be perfect but Supergirl herself was dealing with her own problems and struggles. In addition, this show also embraced different communities, cultures and much more.
Melissa Benoist's performance as the superhero is great. Chyler Leigh as Kara's adopted sister Alex Danvers, who immediately demonstrated that not every superhero has superpowers, and David Harewood as J'onn J'onzz, the anguished Martian who found a new home with the sisters, were both brilliant casting choices.
Besides, it's the type of show that offers warmth and light entertainment, focusing on nicely wrapped-up plots and appealing characters. The show captures the essence of the characters from the comic book without getting too implausible or satirical. Overall, the show 'Supergirl' is a must-see for anyone who appreciates science fiction, drama, adventure, and a whole lot more.
