TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

"Superman: Doomsday" is the first animated Superman project to be rated PG-13.

Kevin Smith appears animated as himself with one line: "Pff, like we really needed him to bust up the mechanical spider right? Lame!" This is a reference to the requirement made by producer 'Jon Peters, that Kevin Smith include a giant spider in the film 'Superman Lives', to be given the position of director (the project was canceled, in favor of Superman Returns (2006)). Kevin Smith wanted to use the same basic plot of 'Superman: Doomsday' for 'Superman Lives'.

In the scene where Luthor and Mercy are discussing his cure for muscular dystrophy, he mentions having "Swan" and "Shaffenburger" work on it. Curt Swan and Kurt Schaffenberger were two artists who drew Superman for DC Comics in the 1970's.

Superman's black suit, and longer hair when he came back to fight the Doppleganger Superman is one of the few things to match up with the comics.

When Superman returns Lois to her home, the terrace looks exactly like it did on the set of Superman (1978), right down to the plants in the corner.

Popular Dialogues

"[Superman has just defeated Doomsday] Superman: Is everyone... ? Lois Lane: [starts to cry] You did it, Superman. We're safe. All of us. Superman: Good. That's... that's all that... matters."

"Martha Kent: My son talks about you quite often. Lois Lane: He's the reason I came to see you. Martha Kent: Has there been word from Afghanistan? I've been so worried. Lois Lane: Mrs. Kent, you know as well as I do that your son died in Metropolis last week. Look, I'm not here as a reporter. I... Martha Kent: Then why are you here, Miss Lane? Lois Lane: I don't know exactly. Maybe it's just... I don't know if he told you but we have been seeing each other for the past few months, romantically, I mean. And I know the rest of the world adored him and misses him now that he's gone, but no one else on this whole stupid planet can know what it felt like to really love him, to be loved by him or how it feels now every minute of every day, like I'm broken. Like I'm the one that freaking monster pounded on."
