An Irish music competition such as the one portrayed in the film is called a "fleadh" (pronounced like "flahhh"). However, nobody uses this word in the movie.

The film is NOT set in 1965. As others have pointed out, almost everything about it says at least late 60s, and more like early 70s. It even includes the line, "...the greatest thing since Sgt Pepper" for a start.

The film takes place in 1965.
