All of the episode titles are quotes from The Dark Crystal (1982).
Director Louis Leterrier confirmed at the New York Comic Con 2018 that this series will rely on puppetry instead of computer animation. CGI will only be used to remove puppeteers, especially in scenes that involve green screens.
According to official lore, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (2019) is set during a time on planet Thra known as the Age of Division. This is a time period lasting a thousand years, beginning with the Great Conjunction that split the urSkeks and ending with the Great Conjunction that (along with Jen and Kira's help) reunited them.
Special effects designer Toby Froud is the son of world creator Brian and designer/puppeteer Wendy Froud, and also played the baby, Toby, from Labyrinth (1986).
Development of the history of the Gelflings was based on the "Wall of Destiny" discovered by Jen and Kira in the original film. It featured a winged (and therefore female) Gelfling sitting on a throne, which led to the concept of their culture being matriarchal. Also pictured were seven circles, and this idea spawned the creation of seven distinct tribes of Gelflings.
