The film was planned with Jackie Shroff. But Jackie then demanded alot of money. The film was reworked and started with Mithun.
Kader Khan had a triple role in the film. In the previous year, he played five different roles in Pehla Pehla Pyar.
Salim Akhtar and Ajay Devgan decided not to work with each other after Jigar. This was due to Ajay demanding more money for a future film. Despite this issue, Ajay's father Veeru Devgan worked with Salim Akhtar in The Don.
