Ronald Biggs, one of the last surviving Great Train Robbers, died on 18 December 2013, the same day that this two-part series was first shown.
Writen by Chris Chibnall, best known for his work on Doctor Who (2005), Torchwood (2006), Life on Mars (2006) and Broadchurch (2013)
The railway scenes were filmed on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway in Yorkshire
Was scheduled to be broadcast in August 2013 on the 50th Anniversary of the great train robbery but was pushed back to December due to scheduling issues
The production was inspired by the book Signal Red by Robert Ryan
