TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

An explosive shootout scene is set inside New York's famous Guggenheim Museum. The production team used the Guggenheim's original blueprints to build a full-size replica of its interior in an abandoned locomotive warehouse. Construction took four months.

Originally scheduled for release in August 2008. After badly-received previews, It was reshot to turn it into more of an action film. It was released in February 2009 during the worst banking crisis in U.S. history.

Inspired by the BCCI (Bank of Credit and Commerce International) banking scandal, which took place in the 1980s and early 1990s.

During the movie, Eleanor (Naomi Watts) trades SMS text messages with a contact. The contact's phone number appearing on her Blackberry-- +352 22 28 09--is actually the real phone number for the Luxembourg City Tourist Office.

The roof of the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul would later be used as the location of the motorcycle chase in the James Bond film Skyfall (2012). Where Ben Whishaw who in this film plays Rene, first appears as quartermaster Q.

Popular Dialogues

"Wilhelm Wexler: Sometimes a man can meet his destiny on the road he took to avoid it."

"Umberto Calvini: [In explaining the "true" nature of banking in the world] The IBBC is a bank. Their objective isn't to control the conflict, it's to control the debt that the conflict produces. You see, the real value of a conflict, the true value, is in the debt that it creates. You control the debt, you control everything. You find this upsetting, yes? But this is the very essence of the banking industry, to make us all, whether we be nations or individuals, slaves to debt."
