The Rig is the unusual story of workers stuck in a Scottish oil rig as mysterious events force them to get stuck in no man's land. This promising Prime Video original Web series promises exhilarating action and never-seen-before plot aspects. However, critics and audience think otherwise. They think the movie is plagued with too many cliches. Not everyone wants a quintessential thriller with all of the same plot lines and dialogues. In fact, critics say that this sci-fi, supernatural thriller lacks the appeal and ambience to justify a good binge watch. It never quite escapes the trap of a boilerplate setup and instead wants to take the easy way out when it comes to writing. However, the casting in the series is said to be excellent, with a mean John Strickland making us all believe that he indeed is in the midst of a tragedy. In fact, the suspense in the narrative is also solid, which makes it a decent watch.
Emun Elliott, Iain Glen, Mark Addy and Owen Teale starred together in Game of Thrones. Emun played Marillion, Iain was Jorah Mormont, Mark was Robert Baratheon, and Owen Teale was Alliser Thorne.
