TRIVIA

Trivia

'Dance Me to My Song' (1998) and 'The Sound of One Hand Clapping' (1998) were the first of several theatrical feature film collaborations of writer-director Rolf de Heer and later producer Julie Ryan.

The film was made and released about a year after its source novel by author Richard Flanagan had been first published in 1997.

Three actresses portrayed the central character of Sonja Buloh at ages three and eight and as an adult. They were Arabella Wain, Rosie Flanagan, and Kerry Fox respectively.

"The Sound of One Hand Clapping" title of the film and its source novel is taken from the Zen koan by Hakuin Ekaku which reads: "You know the sound of two hands clapping; tell me, what is the sound of one hand?".

The movie's opening title card reads: "Tasmania Highlands 1954".
