Many of the combat footage reels shown throughout the series are not from the battle being discussed, for example, during the discussion of Saigon during the Tet Offensive, several videos filmed in the city of Hue are shown as if they are in Saigon.
Edited into 9 episodes in Germany and France.
The series states as fact that the Nixon campaign secretly approached the regime in South Vietnam in October 1968. Whether the Nixon campaign interfered with any ongoing negotiations between the Johnson administration and the South Vietnamese by engaging Anna Chennault, a prominent Chinese-American fundraiser for the Republican party, remains an ongoing controversy. While notes uncovered in 2016 may support such a contention, the context of said notes remains of debate. In any case it is not clear whether the government of South Vietnam needed any encouragement to opt out of a peace process they considered disadvantageous.
This series is one of the few PBS series to carry a TV-MA rating.
The unedited 10 episode version became available in Germany on Netflix on June 20, 2018.
