TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Although Nova Pilbeam's name appears above the title (along with Cedric Hardwicke), she is billed last in the comprehensive cast list.

The film takes place from January 28, 1547 to February 12, 1554.

The film's editor Terence Fisher later directed Miles Malleson in Horror of Dracula (1958), The Hound of the Baskervilles (1959), The Brides of Dracula (1960) and The Phantom of the Opera (1962), Felix Aylmer in The Mummy (1959) and Gwen Ffrangcon Davies in The Devil Rides Out (1968).

This was the first film edited by Terence Fisher. He later became a prominent horror film director who was best known for his work with Hammer Film Productions, including The Curse of Frankenstein (1957), Horror of Dracula (1958) and The Devil Rides Out (1968).

The film was voted the second best British film of 1936, after The Ghost Goes West (1935).

Popular Dialogues

"Clergy at Execution: I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help."

"Sir John Gates: Why let them get such a start? Earl of Warwick: As a soldier, Gates, I've won several campaigns always by waiting till the enemy made a mistake. There will be many mistakes made in this realm in the next few years. And much profit to be gained by them. That is why we wait."
