Unfaithful Review

The film titled Unfaithful is a wonderful piece of cinema. Richard Gere and Diane Lane deserve props for the fantastic roles they both did. As the name suggests, this movie is about betrayal, but actually, it is much more than that. This is the film that is capable of burning your conscience the most out of anything on your list of films. The movie is a true depiction of how fanciful flirtations may ruin a marriage, even if many people in our society would not have envisioned a happily married woman with a son and a gorgeous home going astray. The French bookseller is actually flirting with death and living a double life is clearly very short-lived. This film teaches us that all problems can be solved if one tries and communicates first, instead of resorting to other measures. Promiscuity makes a lot of promises, all of which will ultimately be broken.

TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

The scene where Connie rides the train home after her first sexual encounter with Paul and silently remembering it was filmed in one continuous take. The camera simply stayed on Diane Lane as she went through a series of expressions, and then the scene was cut and edited together.

Although the film implies a considerable age gap between Connie and Paul, Diane Lane is actually just a year older than Olivier Martinez.

Diane Lane herniated her neck during a kissing scene with Olivier Martinez. She's quoted in saying, "We must've done like 50 takes."

George Clooney, Johnny Depp, Robert Redford, John Travolta and Bruce Willis were offered the role of Edward Sumner.

Brad Pitt and Ryan Phillippe were offered the role of Paul Martel. However, during pre-production, the producers decided that Paul should be French, rather than American, so Olivier Martinez received the part.

Popular Dialogues

"Connie Sumner: I think this was a mistake. Paul: There is no such thing as a mistake. There are things you do, and things you don't do."

"Connie Sumner: Be happy for this moment, this moment is you life."
