The film was launched in mid-1996 and has been put on hold for numerous reasons, varying from Karisma Kapoor's attitude, to the makers running into financial crisis. It was considered to be shelved, throughout its production phase. However the makers sorted all the hurdles and completed the project over a decade.
There was a controversy over Amitabh's glasses (which were said to be worth 2.7 lacs) which he used to portray his blind character.
The 'mahurat' shot of the movie was done on 6th June 1996 and was done by Rajnikant with the first scene shot on Amitabh Bachchan.
Its the first time in Indian movie history to feature two Amitabh's in a film, leading actress Vijayshanti is known as 'Lady Amitabh Bachchan' for her macho roles she has portrayed in numerous films.
