As a layman, my requirements were simple - a camera better than the regular point and shoot ones, with a distortion free yet high zoom capability, capable of handling wide angle as well as macros, panorama option, and with a shoestring budget much lesser than SLRs - as I'm not a professional photographer in any case. The HS30EXR perfectly fitted my needs. Having many useful features, the camera is quite versatile and delivers pictures similar to an SLR, but obviously not of the same image quality. (For a camera costing around Rs 20,000/- - you wouldn't expect SLR quality in any case! Have used it for just two weeks and am thrilled with the results. Yet to practice all the options and get a hang of the finer points... though. The 30X zoom is manual, so we save on battery life - which is wasted on the motorised zooms in most point and shoot cameras. In addition to the fantastic photography options, the various movie modes in which you can record with the in built stereo mics will make your handycams or camcorders redundant! The tilting LCD screen makes it pretty easy to take pictures at tricky angles. Continuous shooting, best frame capture are some of the other features found useful. The 'Auto EXR' feature is equivalent to the 'Intelligent Auto Focus Mode' found in similar cameras of other brands. I expect this to be one of my best buys on flipkart, and certainly my best camera till date.
i finaly bought it.flipkart nomaly provides good price for products, but the price is bit high for this product.i got it 3.5k inr less.flipkart has to reduce price for this product or that is what i feel.great fan of flipkart. now about the camera.... cons *bit bulky. *lengs cost higher than canon and nikon *battery cost like 1800 inr *the below average tripods are not advisable. *manual mode is bit hard for people new with camera.. *it heats up a bit. but that is natural in big cameras. *high speed vedio is only possible in min res.. *above 800 iso it start getting noisy *manual focus is bit slow in auto focus pros *worth every penny spent.. *really good images in appropriate settings.. *good battery life arround 500 pic.[jpg fromat.it reduces to 100 if its raw format] *a manual focus ring which most other camera lack in its range *good fstop range.. *bright lcd display. *in super macro mode u can make ants movie.{be carefull with the lengs in this mode.} *descent build.wont slip from ur hands. *exr mode give good images in higher iso but at the cost of smaller image{8mpix} i already droped it a few times and it seems fine{not purposly}.its not water proof dont use it in rain or high humid areas like pools bathroom.after comparing with sony 200v canon 50sx panasonic fz 150.panasonic had better image QUALITY BUT COST AROUND 30 k.sony was ok almost similar to fuji.canon was realy owsem but too pricy.with that money u can buy a dslr.. non of these bridge camera provide u raw image for this price. its OWSEM
