Brilliant Bright Lens and Quick Auto Focus

This performs real fast and the Image quality is that of High end DSLRs. This has a sophestication and a charm. Its very easy to carry but does't compromise on the image quality. A great camera for capturing Candid images as it focuses really fast and doesnt make your subject concious. The lens is not only fast but image quality is very sharp from the center to the sides to the corners. The con is that- to compose frame you have to move a bit, which a comfort when you have a Zoom lens. I would really be happy to have a 4x zoom with a fixed aperture - f/2 or f/1.8. The low light performance of the camera is extremely good, so let you capture good even inside a Gully in natural light.

A Revolutionary Camera

First, I want to mention that I'm a photographer by profession. I bought this after a lot of analysis and one fine day just bought it. I desperately needed a 35mm focal length lens. Instead of buying a lens and a full frame camera body, I saved a ton by buying this. The sensor is out of the world. It's an APS-C sensor with absolutely no noise in pictures clicked at ISO 3200 and that too in RAW (.RAF in this case) Lightroom 4+ can read these RAW files but my PS 5.0 doesn't recognise the files. The things I love about this camera. 1. Its way ahead in technology compared to the ancient cameras by Canon and Nikon. (I own a Canon 7D and 5D MKII with all the 'L' Prime lenses) 2. The shutter is super silent 3. The OVF and EVF is brilliant 4. 6 FPS is super useful 5. Hot shoe is very useful 6. 400% Dynamic range is mindblowing. So much detail in the highlight area. 7. All manual dials for Aperture, Shutter priority and Exposure compensation is extremely useful. 8. Very very compact for all that tech 9. The million settings 10. The vintage looks. 11. Mini HDMI port. 12. At 16Megs it gives 34MB RAW files with loads of data to play around. Honestly, it's like a dream come true wrt cameras.

The retro hep camera

A little background. I own a DSLR (nikon D90, with 50mm / 70-300 / 85 and the kit lens). Am not a professional but a regular shooter on weekends and other occasions. However of late have found myself feeling lazy to lug my entire bag with all the stuff around and hence have missed out on opportunities for shots. There are occasions when I would just carry the D90 with 50 mm lens attached and one more tele. This was all till i found out about the x100s, indeed its first avataar the x100 from Fuji was both appreciated and criticised vociferously for its problems, hence after a lot of research online and reading rave reviews , decided to have a look see at this camera And it was wonderful Those of us who have used the Yashica range finders of old will feel immediately nostalgic when you hold this camera. There are enough stuff out there praising it, Suffice to say it feels just right. The photographs are amazing. even without effort. just open up to f2, point it in the right direction and click. Albeit it takes time to get used to its menu and functions especially if you have been with a DSLR for some time as I have been. This camera grows on you. Have patience , go slow, experiment a bit and soon you will feel like an old friend. Highly recommended for those who love and enjoy photography
