Worth your money and a stunner!!!

First and foremost, I am a hobbyist photographer and I was looking for a laptop which could run memory hogs like Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom side by side and which have a decent display that looks color neutral (that is no shifts in color when a subject is viewed in another screen). Inclusion of a card reader is an added advantage. This translates to a laptop with a 15" viewable screen, at least 4/6 GB of RAM, plenty of HDD space and a powerful processor. nnThe above specifications being my requirement, I started searching for laptops in this range for quite some time. The laptops I fell upon were either too expensive or will miss feature which I required (for e.g. Some laptops have enough HDD space, but then they won't have enough RAM). nnAnd then, I stumbled upon this model from HP. This is exactly what I required: 15" screen, 1 TB HDD and icing over the cake, the 8 GB RAM. And on seeing the exchange offer on it, I didn't had a second thought. I exchanged my old Samsung Laptop to get a 6K instant reduction on the price. I also got a HP Laptop bag (nothing special about the bag) and Windows 8 pre-installed on it.nnIt's been a week since I got the laptop and here are my views on the pros of it: na.) The Laptop is a stunner. Quite lightweight and thin (well compared to other laptops of HP/Samsung/Dell I have seen) with good hand rest for typing and a number keypad on the right for numbers typing (which I never use, by the way, but thanks!)nb.) There is a myth that AMD processors gets overheated. Yes they were, but gone are those days. AMD processors coming out now-a-days are equally comparable to the Intel counterpart. The processor included here is a quad-core and is absolutely fast for my usage of Photography and HD video displays. There's no heating issue, even for continuous 4 years usage without AC power. nc.) Graphics, the most important part I was looking for. The laptop have a powerful dual graphics system, and you can switch between them with ease if you install (comes pre-installed) the proper Graphics drivers for ATi Radeon. nd.) Battery backup is as specified. Around 4 hours with WiFi usage kept on for straight 4 hours. nnCons for the laptop: na.) The Operating System: Yes, I meant Windows 8. First, there is a radical shift from how you use Windows (Windows 7 and earlier). There's no Start button to click and it will take a little while to get used to it. Once you get used to it, it will be a jiffy. Also, there are lots of updates and the most painful of all is the update to Windows 8.1 (The update is free for all legitimate Windows 8 user). It's a 3.5 GB download which of course takes a lot from your Internet bandwidth. The laptop could have costed even less, if it don't have Windows 8 pre-installed. nb.) The Touchpad requires a little effort using to. It will be a bit harder at first, but gradually as you use it, it will get smooth. nc.) The inbuilt speakers produce a little feebler sound as compared to other models. nd.) I am not sure, if it is a con for you or not, but it definitely is for me. The Function keys (F1/F2 etc.keys ) requires you to press the Fn key in your keyboard. As I said, I use Photoshop and Lightroom heavily and shortcut keys comes in handy in those programs; real juggling for fingers happens when I have to press a Function key combination (e.g. Alt+C+F3). My fingers are small and this requires a nice bit of exercise to the fingers. :-). nnAnd as I had the experience already in numerous products I ordered, WS Retail (aka Flipkart retailer) always delivers the product before time and in a nice package. Thanks again for the wonderful packaging and timely delivery.nnI definitely recommend this laptop if you are looking out for a powerful computing machine.

Disappointed by its Gaming performance!!!

Purchased this laptop 3 moths ago only for gaming, but after testing several games (like Assassin's creed 3 & 4, hitman absolution, nfs most wanted, etc.) I was completely shocked by such a poor performance most of the games I tested have lag even on the lowest possible setting and on native resolution. My friend's Sony E Series laptop (even with only 2 gb of ram and a price tag of 32k) performed much better than this.nOther than gaming I felt it is a bit slow even for every day usage (specially with my Norton 360 antivirus which worked flawlessly on my 5 year old desktop pc).nSo, if you are planning to buy it for gaming I recommend to go with some other options or check out Sony VAIO Fit 15E SVF15318SNB.

HP Pavilion 15e001AX is better

Processor is a bit weak. It is actually not a 4 core processor. Better go for HP Pavilion 15-e001AX which is cheaper and will give a better performance. 2GB of graphic is useless unless you are using multi-screens.
