To start with, a couple of other reviewers said that the actual price would be much lower. I don't blame them for thinking so, that's what I thought too, but time to update your reviews people!nnAs for the phone itself, the build quality is excellent, the only difference with the bigger One is the plastic banding running around the side. The phone isn't mini by any standards. The dual speakers and the space for the physical keys means it isn't all that smaller than the One, which kinda defeats its purpose.nnThe screen is really good. It isn't 1080P but it still has a higher ppi than an iPhone and obviously you can't see any pixels. Viewing angles are also fantastic with true to life colours. nnAs for the internals, it runs on a dual core processor, but be assured it isn't going to lag for 90% of the tasks. heavy gaming could show it's short comings, but otherwise there shouldn't be any lag.nnIt runs Sense 5, which is HTC's latest and greatest. Expect software updates to come in fast as it's from the flagship One line. Sense 5 is much more similar to Stock Android and much less heavier. If you aren't the kind of person who needs gimmicky features like on Touchwiz or wants the closest experience to stock Android with some added on features, Sense 5 is for you. Personally, I also feel that, Sense 5 is simplest OEM UI to use. My personal favourite has to be 'Hyperboot'. When enabled the phone turns on in less than 10 seconds.nnThe speakers deserve special mention. Apart from the One and the One Max, this is easily the best speaker(s) you will find on any phone. And yes, it's better than an iPhone or even a Galaxy S4.nnThe camera is the same unit found on the One minus the Optical Image stabilization. Image capture is fast with excellent low light photos. However, since there is no OIS, few photos tend to be blurry. You also get Zoe which is cool.nnBattery life isn't great. The screen is power hungry. Turning on the Battery Saver mode helps, but you'll have to do without haptic feedback and low screen brightness. For nights, you have sleep mode which reduced the battery by only 1 or 2% but with social media syncing on.nnThe price, well to put it simply, it sucks monkey balls. At this price, it makes more sense for someone to rather go and buy the larger size Htc One or another flagship. That's the reason why I've given a low rating.nnAlternatives to the One Mini: Htc One, Galaxy S4, Xperia Z1, iPhone 5S/C, Lumia 1020 and 925, BB Z10, Nexus 4, Nexus 5 (Will be launched with a few weeks).nnSo what rating do I give it? If I look at the phone without considering the price, I could give 4 stars. That -1 star would be for the still large size, less powerful hardware (not really needed though) and no OIS.nnBut when I see the pirce, I have to give a -1 (-1.5 would be more appropriate, but FLipkart doesn't allow .5 ratings). I've reduced only -1, because other than the camera, it actually doesn't compromise much. Sure it has only a 720P screen, but the iPhone doesn't have even that. And the One Mini doesn't lag, so I don't see why the weaker hardware should matter.nnBut finally, when I look at its competitors, especially the One, I have to reduce 2 stars. For a little more you get a bigger screen and a better camera and much, much more powerful hardware. You may argue that it isn't needed, but if you are going to pay 35K, it's only natural to expect.nnGuys, if you liked this review, do mark it as useful, it encourages me to write many more like these! :)
I had been waiting for its launch in India. I was almost certain to buy it soon as it gets released. I was expecting the price range somewhere in between 26k-28k. But now buying it at 37000/- would be the worst decision ever.nI am very much disappointed with HTC and their over-pricing trends.nDidn't even want to give it a single star... duh!!
