Good at this Price range

Hi, nI’m smartphone user for around 4 years, previously I used iphoe 3GS, Samsung Ace and Xperia sola. I believe i have enough experience in writing review for a smartphone.nI have been using this mobile for around 2 weeks, 1st week on Android 4 (ICS) and next week I upgraded to Android Jellybean (4.1). User experience is definitely different on Android Jellybean. nnLooks- The most attractive thing about this phone is it’s slim waistline. It is pretty much thin than most of the smartphones and also weights pretty less. You don’t feel you have phone in your pocket. I have white version, its back is smooth and easily slips from your hand, so hold it carefully. Try to buy some case. Look wise, the phone is pretty decent and definitely won’t disappoints you.nnDisplay – The qHD AMOLED display produces images with crunchy colors and brightness is very good (Better than Galaxy S2 and Samsung Galaxy nexus). Sunlight visibility is also good. In display-wise, the phone is superior than any other 15K phones. If you are new smartphone user, you will definitely love this display. Watching movies and viewing pictures is awesome experience. nnProcessor and RAM - The dual-core processor coupled with 1 GB RAM ensures smooth android experience without any Lag (Both in ICS and Jellybean) even you run bunch of applications in the background. Performance wise its better than any mid-range phone. Hats off to HuaweinnBattery – The battery lost only a day in average use, you can’t expect more than that. You can improve it by reducing brightness, disabling data and GPS. nnHeating Issue – The phone heats up with 30 minutes of continuous Game play and 1 hour of continuous Browsing. But it’s normal in 2012 Android Smartphones. nnInternal Memory – The phone has internal memory of 2.3 GB (ICS) and 1.9 GB (Jellybean) for average user it’s ok and for game geeks it’s not enough . nNote – Mine Running on Jellybean (1 GB full after installing 20 Casual games and 30 Plus Essential Apps ), but still its running smooth like butter.nnCamera - Pretty decent camera, don't expect too much. The camera has lot of features, you will love it, when you try all those camera filters and image enhancement features.nnBundled Accessory - Pretty Ordinary (Charger + Datacable, Headset) nnGreat Headache- There no way to enable 3G only mode (2G only mode is available), so automatically switches between 3g and 2g depending on available strong network. If you are using 3G only data pack, it causes problem of 2g data Charges.nnAndroid 4.03 ICS ReviewnnInterface - The interface (Emotion 1.0) is smooth, attractive and productive. It has three different themes (Stock ICS, 3D theme and another one). The 3D theme looks cool and better than Touchwiz and Sony Launchers., and stock ICS theme gives you a feel like you are using a Nexus device. You can easily switch between themes without a glitch. This Chinese gaint gives one of the better Andorid experience. Pre-installed Music player offers visual-treat to your eyes.nnMusic Quality – The most most worst part of this phone is music quality, sound is very low (But clear). Even 320 Kbps won’t sounds good, even after enabling Dolby support (its integrated to improve sound quality) and connecting high-end headphones. No BASS at all, only Treble. You can’t even hear voice, while watching movies, The problem is due to software bug, if you update your phone to JB the problem solved. I will rate music quality as 3/10.nnAndroid 4.1 JellyBean Review nnIn Jellybean update, Huawei offers user interface update names as Emotion 1.5nUI wise I personally feel Android ICS is better than Jellybean. 3D themes and Stock ICS themes are gone, only one theme is available and its plane. No app drawers, you have to accommodate all apps and widgets on homescreen (Still it’s smooth) , the only good add-on is Me Widget. Music player is pretty normal.nnMusic quality – Music quality wise JB update is astonishing. I can’t figure out, what huawei did, the music will burst out your ears. Pls disable Doby in settings , otherwise you will only hear treble not Bass. Try Google music app, that’s better than stock.nnYou can read complete review on my blog...

The best bang for the buck

Here's my review of this device:nThe Design: The design of this phone is simple, to say the least. Since it was Huawei's flagship device, launched in CES, in 2012. The design is minimalistic, with sharp protruding edges, the front is black with the top of the phone showing off the front speaker grille in black colour, and below that HUAWEI brand name. On the right side is the 1.3mp secondary camera that is capable of shooting at 1280x720p video, and also a variety of other sensors like the proximity and the ambient light sensor. At the bottom of this device are the three capacitive buttons for Home, Menu and Back (no physical buttons). The phone dons a Corning Gorilla Glass in the front. There are chrome plated plastic buttons at the sides, with the left side of the phone having the two volume rocker keys, right side having the Power button, the MicroSD card bay, and the top having the USB-cum-MHL port, the Sim card slot, and the 3.5mm audio jack. The USB port doubles or rather triples as the Charging-cum-USB-cum-MHL port. I however didn't like this approach, as there is too much use of the single USB port, thus, drastically reducing its life span. The bottom of the phone houses just a small hole for the primary microphone. The back of the phone has the 8mp Autofocus camera with dual led flash, and a secondary microphone used for active noise cancellation. Build quality wise, the device is quite well built.nThe Hardware: This feature has already been talked much about, and is available everywhere, even on this page. One thing, worthy of mentioning, and that is the RAM. The system, and other utilities too, report the total system RAM to be 659.2MB (the remaining around 340MB of RAM is used for OS, the dedicated graphics chip and other features.nThe user experience: This is my first android device, so, I am pretty much astonished by the speed of the device. Earlier I was using the Nokia C6-00, that had a 434MHz processor and a mere 128MB of RAM, so, moving to a device like this is really a stunning experience. Not that I didn't liked it, but was used to it, and faced almost no issues with it, even with that slow hardware, having a much faster device at a price lower than it was great. The display is crisp and vivid. The 540x960px resolution is great, and considering the pricepoint one is getting this device, you can't ask for more. As far as the OS and software is concerned, the phone comes preloaded with Android 4.0.3 ICS, with a very minimal of tweaks by Huawei, so, one can expect a near to stock android experience. Huawei has already announced that the JellyBean update is in works, so it will be available in recent future their EmotionUI 1.5 is available for the Ascend P1. Both however, aren't available yet in India (atleast I couldn't find it), so I'm expecting a couple of weeks more for the same to be available. There seems to be some confusion with the battery capacity, where flipkart lists this device as having a battery life of 1800mAh, while the other sites rate it as 1670mAh, and to add to the confusion, Huawei India site has completely missed this on at the product specs page.nCamera Performance: The 8MP camera isn't doing great work, as I expected from it (being a BSI sensor at heart). The most intriguing part of camera is somewhat related to software (I think). The biggest problem is with the Autofocus, which most of the time, isn't accurate, and takes way too much time to focus, so, you could end up with blurry pics. There's however the touch to focus feature, but this too fails to focus very well, and ends up being out of focus many a times. The low light performance is again below what I would call mediocre. One thing worthy of mention is that the camera isn't very good at taking closeup shots. It ends making the shots flat, and over saturated (mostly in case of bright colours like red, yellow, etc). Video wise, the main camera is capable of shooting at Full HD @ 1920x1080p at 25-30 fps, and the video quality is pretty much acceptable.nAudio Performance: The phone is marketed as having Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, but, I didn't find the sound very great. Infact, an older Nokia 5320 XpressMusic at my home still sounds better than this device, so, in my opinion, the Dolby Digital 5.1 sound is just a marketing gimmick, nothing much more.nBundled Accessories: The bundled (in the box) accessories included a compact charger having a USB port which is rated at 5V, 1Amps, a micro usb data-cum-charger-cable, a good looking but poor sounding set of earphones, that are a pain to use.nnPRO's:n1. Great bang for the buck.n2. Good (if not excellent) hardware specs.n3. Awesome screen quality.n4. Slim form factor.n5. Price.n6. 1080p video capture.nnCON's:n1. Pretty immature service (I think so).n2. Mediocre camera performance (atleast for still shots).n3. Poor bundled accessories (the headset is bad).n4. Non-removable battery.n5. Poor specs page (incomplete device specs) on Huawei India site.

It's not a new phone, which is why you should buy it.

Hi all,nnI preordered this phone from flipkart on the 15th and got it 19th.nnWhen this phone hit international market about a year ago, it was priced around 450$ and was the flagship device for huawei. So you'll see that the design is impeccable. It's slim, light weight and pretty good looking.nnPros:nn1. Killer looksn2. At this price it's a steal.n3. Untouched Android ICS.n4. Light weightn5. Jellybean update is out (google Huawein Ascend P1 Jelly Bean 4.2, the link from androidcentral forum will help you get that)n6. Plays full hd movies.nnAs for performance, it's definitely not an iphone 5 or a note 2. But, it's sure better than most phones under 20k (remember it used to be the top phone for huawei once).nnI don't play games, so can't comment on that.nnCons:n1. No preinstalled Jellybeann2. Non removable battery (not really a drawback IMO)n3. No case available in India, i had to import from China.n4. 4 GB inbuilt memory is not much, you will need an external SD card.nnVerdict: Go ahead and buy if you need a superb looking smartphone for the next couple of years, it's worth every pi.nnThanks

FlipKart just went full retard

They slapped the price of Ascend P6 on the Ascend P1.. big blunder. Hope no one purchases from Flipkart out of ignorance. The P6 costs Rs 21,000 in local shops The P1 costs Rs 12,500 in local shops and other indian online shops Flipkart, fix this and ill remove this review. Anyways, this phone deserves a 5 star provided Flipkart fixed the price back to its original Rs12k price

If you are looking to buy a phone under 18k, for 12.5 this is a steal

So. I have used it one day so my review isn't as technical.nFirstly, wait for the full jellybean update, do not install the beta.nCamera: pictures without flash are very goodnBattery: 24 hours while downloading all required apps, so at least 200 mb of downloads, was on wifi through those 24 hours.nMemory: I am using my old external SD card, its only 2GB but it is a must. Spending 700 bucks extra for a 16 GB card is a good investment.nProcessor and UI: no lag, use on 2D mode and wait for the full jeallybean updatenScreen: beyond what I expected, much better than any Xperia phone under 20k and that is saying something, yes fingerprint magnet, a magnetic cover would have been ideal but alas for 12.5 k this is still the best screen in the market, and yes I am comapring to the full HD screens being offered by cheaper indian brandsnJust 3 serivce centers in Delhi NCR is a problem particulalrly since the battery isnt user replaceable but I give my thumbs up to this phone. Considering I am the only purchaser to be reviewing this, I would say this is better than Xperia L and the HTC models under 20k. Else read the CNet UK and GSM Arena reviews of this phone. You WILL want to buy it. Cheers
