Apple is hosting a second event in as many months.
The Cupertino-based firm has tagged its October 13th launch event as ‘Welcome Home’.
The new Apple TV 4K, HomePad, and HomePod mini 2 could be unveiled.
Following its iPhone launch last month, Apple is back with another event on October 13th. This time, the company is hosting the ‘Welcome Home’ event in New York, potentially unveiling its smart home accessories. The details remain under wraps, but Bloomberg managing editor Mark Gurman claims that Apple will introduce its new HomePad, a smart home hub with a display, the HomePod mini 2, and a new Apple TV set-top box.
Moreover, Gurman claims that Apple may also introduce a slew of new accessories in partnership with LG and Schneider Electric. These accessories could include a door lock, a deadbolt lock, security cameras, and thermostats. Of course, these details have yet to be officially verified, so take the news with a grain of salt.
Not much is known about these devices, except that most of them are expected to be powered by the new Siri AI. Furthermore, the HomePad is said to recognise users based on their appearance and voice, offering personalised content, music, notes, and text messages. The device is also expected to serve as a smart home command centre, with its built-in display making the experience more interactive. The HomePad is rumoured to feature a 7-inch square display, support Apple Intelligence, run homeOS and Apple-made apps, and include a built-in camera, among other features.
Moving on, both the HomePod mini 2 and Apple TV 4K are expected to debut with faster processors. If reports are anything to go by, the devices could be powered by the A17 Pro chip, which also powers the iPhone Air, and feature Apple’s recently unveiled N1 wireless chip, along with support for Apple Intelligence. These upgrades are expected to improve processing speeds and overall performance.
HomePod
That’s all we know about these devices for now. However, Apple has more in its pipeline. Its most ambitious iPhone yet, the iPhone Duo, priced at around Rs 3 lakh in India, is also set to go on sale on October 23rd. Gurman also reveals that Apple could unveil a new touchscreen MacBook and a refreshed iPad mini on or around October 27th.
If you have been planning to upgrade to any of these devices, it could be worth waiting a little longer. Apart from the HomePod, the doorbell, security cameras, thermostats, deadbolt lock, touchscreen MacBook, and OLED iPad mini would represent new product categories for Apple. These devices are also likely to benefit from the company’s robust ecosystem, helping them stand out from the competition.
