Devialet has launched a new variant of the Phantom Ultimate 98dB, called Pulse Blue. Developed in collaboration with F1 driver Isack Hadjar, the portable speaker draws inspiration from his team, Oracle Red Bull Racing, both in its colour and name. The Phantom Ultimate 98dB Pulse Blue joins the Deep Forest, Light Pearl, and Opera De Paris variants, which were launched earlier this year. Key features of the speaker remain unchanged.
Despite its compact form factor, the Devialet Phantom Ultimate 98dB delivers 400 Watts of power, which should be more than enough to fill a large room with sound. But loudness isn’t the only focus here. The speaker has a frequency response ranging from as low as 18Hz for deep bass to 25kHz for higher frequencies, allowing it to reproduce a broad range of sounds while retaining detail across the spectrum. Furthermore, the speaker features a co-spherical wideband driver design to help create a wider, more immersive soundstage while maintaining clarity.
The audio experience is backed by several proprietary technologies, such as ADH (Analog Digital Hybrid), which uses analog Class A amplification for linearity with digital Class D for compactness. It is claimed to improve thermal dissipation and high-frequency precision. Then, there are SAM (Speaker Active Matching) – an algorithm to adapt the signal in real-time to the speaker’s characteristics, HBI (Heart Bass Implosion) to produce ultra-low frequencies in a small enclosure, and AVL (Adaptive Volume Level) to dynamically adjust volume in real-time based on the content.
The Devialet Phantom Ultimate 98dB offers a variety of connectivity options, including Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth v5.3. iPhone users will be able to cast to the speaker via AirPlay, while Android users can use Google Cast. Other streaming features include Roon Ready, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, and UPnP. The speaker comes with app support, which lets you tweak its EQ and audio modes.
While the Devialet Phantom Ultimate 98dB Pulse Blue can be comfortably placed atop a table or flat surface, the company has also launched a stand – sold separately. The Pulse Blue is priced in India at Rs 2,40,000, which is more expensive than its other variants. The tree stand costs an additional Rs 37,999.
