Google’s June Android Drop has been announced: here’s what’s coming to your Android smartphone this month
Google has just announced the June Android Drop, which is set to bring a slew of connectivity, security, and productivity features to Android smartphones this month. Android Drop updates are generally released through Google Play Services, and don’t necessarily require an OTA firmware to be rolled out. While the majority of the updates revolve around Google apps, such as Phone, Gboard, Quick Share, etc., let’s take a look at what’s new in this month’s Android Drop.

AirDrop support with Quick Share will be rolled out to more devices
Since Google officially announced back in February that Quick Share will work with AirDrop on more Android smartphones other than Pixels, the support for directly sharing with Apple devices using Quick Share will be added to smartphones from multiple brands with the June Android Drop:
Google Phone can now detect impersonation calls
The Google Phone app will be able to detect callers who try to impersonate your saved contacts by spoofing their mobile numbers. While mobile number spoofing isn’t possible in India, this new addition to the Google Phone could prevent scammers from going the distance to attempt money extortion or other similar illegal activities. This will be available on devices running Android 12 and above.

The update will bring the ability to detect the whole outfit in a given image, from the top to the footwear. Accordingly, Google will provide the purchase links of the detected clothing in one go. This appears to be a nifty addition for those always on the lookout for apparel or fashion inspiration. Circle to Search to find the whole outfit will be coming to Android devices running Android 14 or above.
Emoji Kitchen gets an upgrade
Emoji Kitchen is one of the most significant personalisation additions to Gboard in recent years. To make it work, all you have to do is enter two emojis (same or different ones), and Gboard will automatically generate a distinct-looking sticker that carries the flair and design of the emojis used. With the June Android Drop, more emoji combinations have been added to the keyboard, such as ‘pink heart + rat’ or ‘ring + honeybee’.
Other updates
Apart from the aforementioned updates, the June Android Drop brings new features to the Personal Safety app to allow parents to add medical information and emergency contact details on their kids’ lockscreen, while the Find Hub will notify you when a friend or acquaintance reaches the location you’ve selected, such as home or office.
