Google has just announced the June Android Drop, which is set to bring a slew of connectivity, security, and productivity features to Android smartphones this month. Android Drop updates are generally released through Google Play Services, and don’t necessarily require an OTA firmware to be rolled out. While the majority of the updates revolve around Google apps, such as Phone, Gboard, Quick Share, etc., let’s take a look at what’s new in this month’s Android Drop.

AirDrop support with Quick Share will be rolled out to more devices

Since Google officially announced back in February that Quick Share will work with AirDrop on more Android smartphones other than Pixels, the support for directly sharing with Apple devices using Quick Share will be added to smartphones from multiple brands with the June Android Drop:

Google Phone can now detect impersonation calls

The Google Phone app will be able to detect callers who try to impersonate your saved contacts by spoofing their mobile numbers. While mobile number spoofing isn’t possible in India, this new addition to the Google Phone could prevent scammers from going the distance to attempt money extortion or other similar illegal activities. This will be available on devices running Android 12 and above.
