Google Pixel 6 will reportedly ship without a charger in the box.
Update (August 2025): Google launched the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro in October 2021 with 30W advertised wired charging and the phones shipped without a charger in the box, with the “adapter sold separately” direction which was hinted at in the leak. The 33W figure under testing did not translate to official spec sheets, but the devices did support faster charging than prior Pixels and introduced the first‑gen Tensor chip as expected. Google’s first foldable did not arrive alongside the Pixel 6 series; the project slipped and eventually debuted later as the Pixel Fold, confirming the delay referenced at the time.
Original story follows
Google officially introduced the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro to the world recently and confirmed it would come with the in-house Tensor chipset. The flagship phones will arrive with a brand new design and in multiple colour options. And, while the exact launch date is yet to be revealed, the handsets may not be available in India, at least not in the first round. Now, while we wait for the announcement, 91mobiles has exclusively learned that the upcoming Pixel 6 phones may support 33W fast-charging support out of the box, courtesy of tipster Yogesh Brar.
This will be a huge step up for the Pixel phones but not compared to what brands like Xiaomi, Realme, Vivo, OPPO, and others offer with their flagships. Furthermore, Yogesh tells us that his sources at Google have spotted a lot of 33W charging bricks at the company’s HQ. However, those charging units are apparently being taken back as they’re only for testing purposes. This is perhaps because it is reported that the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro won’t come with a charger in the box, following Apple and Samsung. This goes on to suggest that while the Pixel 6 phones will support 33W fast-charging as it’s currently being tested, the adapters need to be picked up separately once they’re on sale after the launch.
Our exclusive doesn’t end here. There have been multiple reports of the foldable Pixel phone in recent times. Yogesh citing sources in Google tells us the foldable project has been delayed. There’s no exact launch timeline for the same at the moment, but he tells us there are chances the Mountain view giant might offer a preview at the Pixel 6 launch event later this year.
