Honor has quietly unveiled the Honor X70 Pro Max in China, adding a new member to its X70 lineup. The phone combines a large battery, a bright AMOLED display, and extensive durability credentials, but its arrival comes with an unusual twist. On the very same day, Honor also confirmed that the Honor X80 Pro Max will launch on June 22nd with an even larger 11,000mAh battery. That announcement risks overshadowing a device that would have looked remarkable just a year ago.

The Honor X70 Pro Max is built around an 8,560mAh battery, which is a bit larger than what most smartphones offer today. For context, many premium Android phones nowadays sit in the 6,000mAh to 7,000mAh range, but there are some that go up to 9,000mAh and even more but there number is significantly lesser. Honor pairs the battery with 90W wired charging, aiming to reduce the downtime that often comes with larger battery packs.

Up front is a 6.79-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2640 x 1200 pixels, 3840Hz PWM dimming, and a claimed peak brightness of up to 6,000 nits. The company is also highlighting a range of eye-comfort features, an area where Chinese manufacturers have increasingly focused their display marketing.
The phone runs on the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 Enhanced Edition chipset, alongside 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. That positions it as a mid-range device rather than a flagship challenger. Camera hardware is relatively straightforward, featuring a 50MP rear camera with electronic image stabilisation and an 8MP selfie camera. One area where the X70 Pro Max stands out is durability. The phone carries IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings, levels of protection typically associated with more expensive devices.
Price, availability
The Honor X70 Pro Max starts at CNY 1,999 (around Rs 28,000) for the 8GB + 256GB variant, while the 512GB model costs CNY 2,399 (around Rs 33,600). Honor has not announced plans for an India launch.
If battery life is your top priority, the phone is an interesting addition to the segment. The challenge for Honor is that the conversation has already moved to what comes next.
