Wobble, the Indian consumer technology brand, is set to double its smartphone portfolio in the country. Following the launch of the Wobble One in November last year, the OEM has started teasing its successor, the Wobble Speed 5G. The teasers confirm the phone’s name and design, which will differ from its predecessor. While keeping the specifications under wraps, the company has also revealed its focus area and the Wobble Speed 5G’s expected price in India.

The Wobble Speed 5G has been teased with a “Coming soon” tag, suggesting it won’t launch this month. We estimate that the smartphone might see the light of day by mid-November. While we may have to wait for the exact launch date, the company hasn’t kept its intended price segment a secret.

The Wobble Speed 5G will launch in India in the highly competitive Rs 20,000 smartphone segment. This will put it on par with the original Wobble One, which was launched at a price of Rs 22,000. That said, the new phone will look entirely different from its predecessor.

Wobble One

The Wobble Speed 5G is confirmed to feature a circular camera module reminiscent of Vivo smartphones. The handset will also be available in at least one red colour option and feature the volume rocker and power button on the right spine. Beyond these details and 5G connectivity, there isn’t much we know about the smartphone.

In a press release, the company said, “Wobble Speed 5G has been developed with a product-first approach… From imaging and display technology to processing performance and battery life, the device is designed to deliver a comprehensive hardware proposition in a segment where consumers are often required to make trade-offs between features, design and price.”

“With Wobble Speed, our ambition is to bring together an exceptionally rich set of specifications and a distinctive premium design at a price point that makes both accessible to more consumers,” added Anand Dubey, CEO, Wobble, in the press release.

The Wobble Speed 5G could be worth waiting for, if you’re eyeing a smartphone in the Rs 20,000 segment. The OEM would be building on the good start it got from the Wobble One, which, in our review, impressed us with a clean OS, premium design, and reliable daylight cameras. However, battery life was a major weakness, which the Wobble Speed 5G will hopefully address.
