Honor X6d goes official with MediaTek Dimensity 6300 SoC, 5,260mAh battery, and more

Honor has officially unveiled a new addition to its X series, the Honor X6d. The handset has been launched in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as a budget-focused offering. The handset may boast flat edges and a squarish rear camera module, similar to other contemporary smartphones; however, its front sticks with a dated waterdrop notch and noticeably thick bezels. The OEM has added a glossy finish to the camera module, which seems to be flush with the phone’s surface, to make the design slightly interesting.

As for the specifications, the Honor X6d sports a large 6.75-inch LCD display that boasts a modest HD+ (720p) resolution. Under the hood, the smartphone rocks MediaTek Dimensity 6300 SoC, paired with 4GB RAM and 256GB storage. This is the same chipset that has rocked several affordable smartphones in the past, including the sub-Rs 15k offering, the POCO C85. We have found the chipset to be a decent choice for the price, but nothing exciting for heavy users.

In optics, the Honor X6d debuts with a dual-rear camera setup, which includes a standard 50MP primary sensor and an unknown auxiliary sensor. The front camera is a 5MP unit for selfies and video calling. The handset should be able to capture Full HD videos at 30 fps, but don’t expect too much from it. On paper, the setup looks average at best and should be ideal for only point-and-shoot photography, that too in well-lit environments.

The handset houses a 5,260mAh battery and runs Android 15-based MagicOS out of the box. While it is not stated, the handset seems to feature a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. It offers 5G connectivity, but we don’t know if it comes with dual-SIM slots and a microSD card slot yet. That said, the handset shares most of its traits with the Honor Play 60A, which was launched in China last month, and that model features Wi-Fi 5 (ac) and Bluetooth 5.3 with aptX HD.

The Honor X6d is currently listed on a UAE e-commerce platform at AED 509, which roughly converts to around Rs 12,500. Although there is no official word on an India launch, it doesn’t seem to be launching anytime soon in India. So, if you are in the market for a new smartphone, it would be more wise to explore other alternatives available right now. There are plenty of good options, such as the POCO C85 and Moto G57 Power in the sub-Rs 15k segment.
