Just one look at the Infinix GT 10 Pro is enough for you to realise that this phone is made for gaming. The brand has opted for a design language that seems focused in this direction. What makes this phone unique is that in its price segment, we’ve not seen many gaming-centric phones before. While there have been phones that proved to be compelling, most of these phones were launched with the aim to offer well-rounded value rather than make a concentrated effort in a specific department. The GT 10 Pro doesn’t shy away from being branded as a gaming phone and this itself feels like a breath of fresh air, as not everyone can shell out close to Rs 60,000 to get hold of gaming phones from the ASUS ROG series. But does this Infinix phone hold up to these bold claims? Check out our detailed review below to find out.

Verdict

Infinix GT 10 Pro pricing starts from Rs 17,999, and introducing a gaming-centric phone at this price is commendable. And due to its consistent gaming performance and that too without heating up, Infinix definitely has a strong case for its phone here. Having said that, the phone’s camera performance could surely have been better. Overall, if you want a phone that offers you good and reliable performance, comes with an eye-catchy design, and manages to come at a pocket-friendly price, Infinix GT 10 Pro could be a good choice under Rs 20,000.

Design and display

From the day the teasers for the GT 10 Pro came out, there was a huge fuss regarding the phone’s design similarity with Nothing phones. However, if you put Infinix GT 10 Pro and Nothing Phone (2) side by side, you’ll realise that apart from the transparency aspect, which was actually tried even before Nothing phones came into the picture (Mi 8 Explorer Edition, Mi 9 Explorer edition, and more), nothing feels the same. However, that’s not a diss on either of these phones. The Infinix GT 10 Pro has been designed to feature a distinct look that appeals to gamers and I believe it successfully manages to achieve this. Quite a few people asked me about the phone during the testing period, and that’s a testament to its unique design.

The review unit I received was Cyber Black, and as you can see in the images below, the phone’s aesthetics are clearly inspired by a Cyberpunk universe. One of the striking aspects of the GT 10 Pro is the mini-LED light strips at the back. Notably, the backlight effect is customisable and you can choose different patterns for incoming calls, notifications, charging, startup, and games. Personally, I only liked one of these patterns (Flowing Light). I must say that I was disappointed that I didn’t receive the Mirage Silver colour variant as it has a colour-changing panel at the back that looks quite intriguing.

The GT 10 Pro is a large phone but personally, I didn’t face any issues while using it even with one hand. The 10-bit 6.67-inch AMOLED display comes with an impressive 120Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution. As most people have realised by now, the advantage of the high refresh rate display extends beyond gaming. While smooth gameplay and extra frames per second can be a deciding factor in many games, the smooth animations while navigating through the UI cannot be understated as well. Thanks to the AMOLED panel, the phone also offers the Always-On display feature, which is always a handy option to have. The handset also features an in-display fingerprint sensor, which worked fine for me during my usage.

As far as legibility goes, under direct sunlight, I didn’t have too many issues viewing the content on display, but I won’t go as far as to say that this is the best display in this price segment.

Cameras

To put things simply, the GT 10 Pro manages to click good pictures provided adequate lighting but the low-light performance from the phone leaves a bit to be desired. In low-light conditions, despite featuring a whopping 108MP primary camera and two additional 2MP sensors (depth and macro capabilities), the phone produces images that appear to be underwhelming. Let’s get the features out of the way first. The phone is capable of recording 4K videos up to 30fps and 1080p videos up to 60fps. It offers AI Cam, Beauty, Portrait, Super Night, Video, and Film modes in the default camera app. While well-lit shots can turn out to be pretty good, in low light, the details, as well as colour reproduction aren’t impressive. While using the Super Night mode, while the images were brightened up considerably, some areas of the image appeared soft. In certain cases, the phone struggled with edge detection while using the portrait mode too. Have a look at the camera samples below to get a better idea.

Having said that, I found one of the camera features to be highly engaging. The Film section in the default camera app lets you record videos in different styles and all you need to do is record small clips after choosing your preferred style. The app itself adds edits and adds music to these clips, and joins them together to produce impressive videos that can be directly shared on social media platforms. The sheer ease of using this feature can be appealing to content creators.

Performance and software

Now I can tell you that the Infinix GT 10 Pro packs the capable MediaTek Dimensity 8050 octa-core processor with four 2.0 GHz Efficiency Cortex-A55 cores, three 2.6 GHz Performance Cortex-A78 performance cores, and one 3.0 GHz Super ARM Cortex-A78 super core, or even that it features the ARM Mali-G77 MC9 GPU, with nine graphics cores, or I can straight up tell you that this phone delivers impressive performance, especially while gaming. The inclusion of the 4D vibration motor ensures that the gaming experience is immersive and fun while playing FPS (first-person shooting) and racing games.

One of the most impressive aspects that I found about the handset’s performance was that it didn’t heat up during my gaming sessions. Several other phones these days, after just casual gaming, end up heating a bit and that definitely puts off the user from an otherwise fun experience. Here, with the vapour chamber liquid cooling technology, the phone tackles heat dissipation in such a way that you find it hard to put the phone down.

With up to 16GB extended RAM (8GB+8GB), the phone manages to handle multitasking really well and during my review, I didn’t face any crashes or lag issues. As far as AnTuTu scores are concerned, the phone managed to score 7,87,877, which is an impressive score and ahead of many other chipsets that are commonly used in this price range. In the Geekbench testing, the phone scored 3299 in multi-core and 1119 in single-core, both of which are extremely impressive for the price range. While benchmark scores can often be deceptive, in this case the phone actually delivers a good performance, corroborating these scores effectively.

With the GT 10 Pro, Infinix has really upped its game when it comes to software. The handset runs on Android 13-based Pure XOS out of the box and it feels like a breath of fresh air. The UI feels clean, intuitive, and easy to navigate. The handset comes with just 13 pre-installed apps, which the company says have been carefully chosen for their high utility and relevance to consumers’ needs. The lack of bloatware ensures a smooth user experience, which is further complemented by transition animations that are easy on the eyes.

In the dedicated Game Mode section, the phone allows you to change the graphic style within games or even manage how notifications pop up. However, there are two more interesting features on offer here. First is Bypass Charging, which allows the phone to bypass the battery and power the phone directly when it is connected to a power outlet through the phone’s original charger. This helps in reducing the phone’s heating and extending the battery life. The phone also offers an Anti-addiction feature that gives you a health reminder after either 2 hours of non-stop play or 4 hours of accumulated gaming.

As the phone is 5G capable, we even conducted a speed test on the device. Here’s the speed test done using Airtel 5G Plus network in Moti Nagar, Delhi.

Battery life and charging speeds

The phone comes with a bundled 45W charger and packs a 5,000mAh battery. While in regular usage the phone can easily last through a day, as this phone is meant for gamers, one cannot help but feel that the company could have offered an even larger battery capacity. As things stand, if you are a hardcore mobile gamer and you start the day with full battery juice, you will likely have to find a charging point by the evening. In the PCMark battery test that I ran on the phone, the phone dropped down from 100 percent to 20 percent battery life in 10 hours and 38 minutes.

Final verdict

Infinix GT 10 Pro is a well-rounded phone that is targeted at the gaming audience but would likely be good enough for most people. In terms of performance, you can expect a hiccup-free experience as the phone has capable hardware and clean software. The only downside for the phone comes in the form of camera performance, where it is outmatched by some other handsets in its price range. However, if you are buying the phone for solid performance, you will have no qualms whatsoever.
