"The high-quality skin on the earmuffs ensures that there is no discomfort, even with prolonged usage"
There are now a plethora of wireless headphones in the market, spread across different price segments in India. To the customers' delight, many of these offerings are available at an extremely affordable price. In a competitive market like this, a product being priced reasonably higher than some of the others available from well-known brands requires a justification. I got a chance to review the Infinix Quiet X recently and will try to find out if these wireless headphones manage to justify their price tag or not.

One of the first things that you will notice about the Quiet X when you see them for the first time, without a doubt, would be the size of the ear cups. The ear cups on the wireless over-the-ear headphones from Infinix are noticeably bigger than most other brands out there. As the ear cups sit nicely around the ears, I found Quiet X to be one of the most comfortable headphones that I have used. The high-quality skin on the earmuffs ensures that there is no discomfort even when you wear the headphones for an extended number of hours.
The Infinix Quiet X offers active noise cancellation, which essentially cancels out the ambient noise while listening to music or otherwise. I found this feature to be effective and the headphones managed to cancel out much of the ambient noise around. There is a noticeable difference in sound offered by the Quiet X with and without the ANC switched on. For connectivity and battery level (only when low), there are voice prompts.
The wireless headphones use Bluetooth 4.2 for connectivity and support audio file formats such as AAC and SBC. With the stereo cable, which comes along as a packed accessory, users can listen to music even when the headphones run out of battery. Interestingly, the ANC functionality is also available over the wired connection.
Coming to the audio department, the bass offered by the wireless headphones comes across as slightly flat. While some bass-heavy songs might still fly under the radar, the bass output in some other tracks feels underwhelming. In the mid-range, the vocals feel detailed and unhindered by the bass offered by the headset.
Moving to the high range, the soundstage and the instrument separation offered by over-the-ear headphones is one of the strongest aspects of the product. Listening to songs like Hunter by Bjork on the Quiet X is a pleasing experience in itself. For the price range, the Infinix offering holds up really well and the performance in high range alone makes a strong case for purchase.
The Infinix Quiet X features a 600mAh battery, which promises to offer noise reduction time of 25 hours or more. In general usage, we found that the headphones managed to last around 13-14 hours on a single charge. For most users, this would mean that you will have to charge the headphones once every two days. When the battery level is low, you get a voice prompt regarding the same. When the charge is complete, the light indicator turns from red to green.
The Infinix Quiet X are currently available at a price of Rs 6,999 on Flipkart. If you are looking for wireless headphones that offer good high range performance, look and feel premium, and offer decent battery life, Infinix Quiet X are definitely worth a shot. However, if you are a basshead and want some extra thump with each song, you would be better off opting for Sony's XB950B1 instead (review).
