[Exclusive] iPhone 16 Pro CAD renders show off new button, bigger size, and more

Highlights
  • Leaked CAD renders of the iPhone 16 Pro show off a familiar camera bump and a new button.
  • A Capture Button will be present below the power button to allow for better control of the camera system. The Action Button is also getting larger.
  • The device is getting new, larger dimensions. It could feature a bigger screen and a tetraprism telephoto camera.

Apple is expected to bring its new iPhone 16 series to market after unveiling it at its September event. The iPhone 16 series is widely assumed to be an incremental update but seems to be gaining another new button similar to its predecessor. Last year, Apple unveiled the iPhone 15 Pro with an Action Button. CAD renders exclusively obtained by 91mobiles show off another button on the right side of the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro along with a familiar design language.

iPhone 16 Pro CAD renders reveal design ahead of launch

iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max used a Titanium frame for the first time in an iPhone. Other upgrades in the design included thinner bezels and rounded corners. The new iPhone 16 Pro will continue using this same design language, but a few changes seem to be taking place.

CAD renders shared with 91mobiles by industry sources show off the rumoured “Capture Button” below the usual location of the power button. The button, with capacitive touch functionality, is expected to enable features such as adjusting focus and zoom levels besides being a trigger for photo and video capture. The Action Button could be getting slightly larger, too.

Further, 91mobiles received the dimensions of the upcoming device. The iPhone 16 Pro will measure 149.6×71.4×8.4mm with a 6.1-inch display. Compared to the iPhone 15 Pro’s dimensions (146.6x 70.6×8.25mm), the iPhone 16 Pro is slightly taller, wider and thicker. The figures for length and breadth corroborate the ones shared by MacRumors. However, a 6.3-inch display panel is more plausible based on previous leaks, thinner bezels and new dimensions.

iPhone 16 Pro retains the same camera bump design

The camera bump will continue with the design language we first saw in 2019’s iPhone 11 Pro series. The recent leaks with a different fidget spinner-like camera bump could be inaccurate based on the CAD we obtained. The upcoming phone houses three camera sensors, a LiDAR module, a microphone and a flash.

The iPhone 16 Pro is expected to gain a 5X tetraprism telephoto camera similar to its bigger sibling. The iPhone 15 Pro missed out on this (and rather got a 3X telephoto lens), but it is now possible thanks to slightly more space inside the device. Other updates for the camera system include a 48MP Ultra-wide camera exclusively for the Pro models. The device is expected to have new colour options, too. Further, leaks from last year showed off a new battery pack with a slightly larger 3,355mAh capacity.

91mobiles shared CAD renders of the 4th generation iPhone SE earlier this week. Reliable analysts claim that the affordable iPhone will come next year, but a surprise unveil at the Fall event is not out of the question. Apple is expected to revamp the Apple Watch Series 10 or “Apple Watch X” majorly as the smartwatch completes its tenth anniversary.
