iQOO looks set to shake up its flagship lineup this year. For the first time ever, the company is working on an ‘Ultra’ model for its number series, and the upcoming iQOO 15 Ultra has already started appearing in certification listings ahead of its launch. The phone was recently spotted on China’s 3C platform, confirming support for 100W fast charging. This is a good sign that the release isn’t too far off, and past confirmation has indicated a launch before mid-February.
Adding weight to the certification, tipster Digital Chat Station has shared key details of the iQOO 15 Ultra on Weibo. According to the leak, the iQOO 15 Ultra will sport a 6.85-inch Samsung M14 display with 2K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. Interestingly, it’s said to use a flat panel instead of a curved one, something that should please gamers who prefer better touch accuracy and fewer accidental touches during long gaming sessions. Flat screens have been making a steady comeback in gaming-oriented phones, and iQOO seems keen to lean into that trend.
Under the hood, the phone is tipped to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, paired with iQOO’s own Q3 gaming chip, the combination of which we’ve seen on the iQOO 15. The in-house chip helps maintain frame rate stability and manage power more efficiently. iQOO has used dual-chip setups before, but bringing it to an Ultra model suggests a bigger push toward long-term, sustained performance.
For cameras, the leak mentions a 50MP Sony IMX882 periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. That’s not a camera-first strategy like other Ultra models from rival brands, but it does hint at a more balanced setup, one that caters to both gamers and everyday users.
The iQOO 15 Ultra is said to pack a 7,000mAh or larger battery, complete with 100W wired and wireless charging support. That’s now baseline for a flagship, and competition is heating up. OnePlus, for instance, recently went all-in on endurance with its OnePlus Turbo 6 series in China, featuring a huge 9,000mAh battery. iQOO’s approach, by contrast, seems more about balance than chasing raw numbers.
What will set the iQOO 15 Ultra apart from the current flagships are its extra hardware features. The phone is tipped to include a built-in cooling fan, similar to what you’d find on dedicated gaming devices, along with physical shoulder buttons for shooting or aiming. These might be niche additions, but they show this phone is built for gamers.
The launch is not far off and iQOO 15 Ultra seems aimed at enthusiasts who want top-tier performance with some gaming-specific perks, without going all-in on a bulky gaming phone. If battery life is your number-one priority, other phones like the OnePlus Turbo 6, which will launch as Nord 6 globally, might still edge ahead. But for those who value a mix of power, display finesse, fast charging, and physical gaming features, iQOO’s first Ultra model could carve out a space of its own in the flagship scene if it steps out of China.
