Next week marks the beginning of September, often dubbed “Techtember” thanks to the flurry of tech launches lined up for the month. While Apple’s iPhone launch is still a couple of weeks away, there’s plenty to look forward to before then. A bunch of smartphones are scheduled to launch between August 31st and September 4th, with brands including Vivo, Redmi, Infinix, and POCO gearing up to introduce new models. Most of these launches are, in fact, happening in India.

Vivo V80 Lite
The Vivo V80 Lite will be launching in Malaysia on September 3rd. This will be different from the one introduced in Pakistan a few days ago. Moreover, the latest V-series offering will be first in the lineup with a mammoth 10,000mAh battery. The handset will also tout flat edges and a squarish camera deco, per the official teaser. The Vivo V80 Lite will be available in two colour variants: green and pink.

Specs at a glance
- 6.83-inch AMOLED display
- 50MP+8MP rear cameras
- 32MP front camera
- 10,000mAh battery
In optics, the Vivo V80 Lite features a 50MP camera at the back. While other specs remain under wraps, leaks suggest that the smartphone could debut with identical hardware as the Vivo S2. The V80 Lite will feature a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate to ensure smooth graphics and animations. It is also said to include an 8MP ultrawide lens, a 32MP front-facing camera, Aura Light, stereo speakers, in-display fingerprint recognition and IP68/IP69 protection.
That said, the most appealing aspect of the Vivo V80 Lite has to be its battery. It is likely to feature a silicon-carbon battery, which should offer long-lasting backup without compromising on the phone’s slim design. There is no word on the Vivo V80 Lite India launch yet.
Redmi 17 5G
The Redmi 17 5G is also launching on September 3rd, but instead of Malaysia, it is coming to India potentially as a budget smartphone. The highlight of the phone is also going to be its battery. It’s confirmed to rock a 7,900mAh battery, backed by 22.5W reverse wired charging. The official renders also confirm the phone in three pastel colours: Eternal Orange (which also has contrasting golden edges and module), Endless Blue and Absolute Black.

Specs at a glance
- 144Hz refresh rate
- Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 SoC
- 50MP rear camera
- 7,900mAh battery
The Redmi 17 5G will debut with flat edges and a squircle camera module, which seems to house dual cameras and an LED flash. Moreover, the handset will be India’s first with Qualcomm’s affordable Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 SoC to ensure smooth operation of at least everyday tasks. That’s all we know about the smartphone so far.
POCO X8 Power
If a large battery is what you are after, the POCO X8 Power could be worth the wait. Launching on September 4th, the handset will house a 10,000mAh battery, which is promised to deliver up to 3.5 days of backup between charges. It will reportedly be backed by 100W wired charging to spend more time using the phone and less time charging.

Other key specifications of the phone include a 6.83-inch 1.5K LTPS OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 SoC. This suggests the X8 Power will be a mid-range offering with enough power for everyday use and some demanding tasks. The chipset could be paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. For photography, the X8 Power is said to feature a 50MP Sony IMX882 main sensor alongside an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 32MP front camera.

- Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 SoC
- 50MP + 8MP rear cameras
- 32MP front camera
- 10,000mAh battery
This should make for a decent setup for casual photography. The X8 Power could also receive up to four Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates, along with IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance. As for pricing, the POCO X8 Power is expected to cost around Rs 35,000 in India.
Infinix Hot 70 Pro
The Infinix Hot 70 Pro is also launching in India next week, on September 4th. Unlike the other smartphones in this list, it appears to be more lifestyle-focused rather than prioritising battery capacity. The handset will be Flipkart-exclusive and is set to feature a 6.76-inch Full HD+ display with a 144Hz refresh rate, housed in a 7.85mm-thick body.

The Infinix Hot 70 Pro has already been introduced globally, where it comes with a Dimensity 7100 chipset, up to 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, a 50MP rear camera, an 8MP selfie camera, and IP68 protection. The Indian variant is expected to pack a battery of up to 6,000mAh with 45W fast charging.
Specs at a glance
- 6.76-inch FHD+ display
- MediaTek Dimensity 7100 SoC
- 50MP+8MP rear cameras
- 32MP front camera
However, these specifications should be taken with a pinch of salt until Infinix officially reveals the Indian variant’s specifications. The Infinix Hot 70 Pro could be an affordable offering.
The POCO X8 Power and Redmi 17 5G are worth waiting for if you’re looking for a battery-focused smartphone in the mid-range and affordable segments, respectively. The Infinix Hot 70 Pro, meanwhile, appears to be a more balanced offering in the budget segment.
