Reliance Jio has introduced a limited-time JioHome Cricket Offer in India that bundles broadband, live cricket streaming, TV channels, and OTT apps into a single package. Announced alongside the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, the offer targets households planning to watch matches at home.
The offer begins with a Rs 99 Power Play Pass, available through the MyJio app and Jio’s website. To unlock the benefits, users must purchase the pass and then activate or recharge a JioHome broadband plan. The incentives are applied over subsequent billing cycles rather than instantly. After the first qualifying recharge, customers receive a free one-month JioHome broadband benefit valued at up to Rs 707, along with Rs 750 in cashback issued as five Rs 150 vouchers for future recharges. Jio says the total value can reach Rs 1,457, though actual savings depend on continued use of the service.
Subscribers can stream T20 World Cup matches in 4K on compatible smart TVs or through Jio’s 4K set-top box, with multi-camera viewing available for select games. The connection supports speeds of up to 30Mbps and includes access to more than 1,000 live TV channels, positioning the bundle as a living room entertainment package rather than a basic broadband plan. The offer also includes access to more than 20 OTT apps, including SonyLIV, ZEE5, SunNXT, and JioHotstar, depending on the plan tier. Similar bundles from Airtel Xstream Fiber and Tata Play Fiber reflect a broader shift in India’s home broadband market, where streaming partnerships are used to improve retention and increase average revenue per user.
Cricket tournaments drive a surge in data usage and new broadband connections, particularly in urban households that prefer watching matches on larger screens. Jio’s Rs 99 entry point lowers the barrier, aiming to convert mobile-only users into fixed broadband subscribers during a period of high demand.
The add-on pricing does not replace the cost of a base broadband plan, and the full value is realised only if users continue recharging to redeem the cashback vouchers. Existing JioHome subscribers are likely to see the clearest short-term benefit through the free month and bundled content. For new users, the decision may depend on whether they were already considering broadband or are motivated primarily by tournament viewing.
The offer is available for a limited period in February and is open to both new and existing JioHome customers, subject to eligibility and service availability. Buyers should review base plan pricing, device compatibility for 4K streaming, and the OTT lineup included in their tier. The bundle may simplify access to cricket and streaming content, but its long-term value depends on how frequently the included services are used after the tournament ends.
