Motorola’s Edge 60 Fusion, launched in April last year, appears set for a successor. The Edge 60 Fusion is Motorola’s most affordable model in the Edge lineup, alongside the Edge 60 Stylus, and is priced under Rs 25,000. A new leak has now revealed detailed specifications of the upcoming Motorola Edge 70 Fusion, suggesting significant upgrades in battery, display, and performance. The details come from tipster Evan Blass, who revealed it all in a post on X. According to Blass, the Edge 70 Fusion carries the internal codename “Avenger.”
Unlike the Edge 60 Fusion, which used a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 chipset, the new model is expected to switch to the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 SoC, which is a decent chipset in the mid-range segment. The leak suggests that the Edge 70 Fusion will feature a 6.78-inch quad-curved OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate. Peak brightness is tipped to reach 5,200 nits with HDR10+ support and Gorilla Glass 7i protection. If accurate, this would be a noticeable step up from the previous model and place the phone among the brighter displays in the mid-premium category.
The device is also expected to ship with Android 16 and receive three years of OS updates, which is the same as the previous model. Cameras are said to include a 50MP Sony Lytia primary sensor and a 32MP front camera. While the megapixel count is similar to the Edge 60 Fusion, it is expected to offer upgrades in terms of image quality, details, and low-light performance, which, in particular, wasn’t great with the predecessor.
The biggest change appears to be the battery. The Edge 70 Fusion is tipped to pack a massive 7,000mAh cell with 68W fast charging, a huge jump from the 5,500mAh battery on the Edge 60 Fusion. This could become the phone’s key selling point, especially for gamers and heavy users. It’s not surprising, though, as brands like Realme, OnePlus, Vivo, and iQOO already offer 7,000mAh phones in this segment.
The handset is expected to launch in 8GB and 12GB RAM variants with 256GB storage. Design details point to a nylon and linen-inspired rear finish along with IP68 and IP69 ratings, suggesting strong water and dust resistance. Colour options are tipped to include Blue Surf, Country Air, Orient Blue, Sporting Green, and Silhouette. These will most likely be official Pantone colours.
Based on the leaked details so far, the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion is shaping up to be a well-balanced mid-range smartphone with a focus on battery life. With the Edge 60 Fusion, we found that its low-light camera performance could be better, and we also pointed out its lack of NFC support. The Edge 70 is expected to improve in these areas.
An upgrade to the Motorola Edge 70 makes the most sense for those who prioritise long battery life, media consumption, and clean Android software. Users coming from the Edge 60 Fusion should see clear gains in endurance and screen quality. However, camera performance and real-world charging speeds will be important factors, and something that we can only determine once the phone is official and we review it.
