POCO is adding another 5G phone to its M8 series, with the company now teasing the POCO M8x 5G on Flipkart. The teaser gives a first look at the rear design and confirms 5G connectivity, but POCO has yet to reveal the phone’s specifications, price or launch date. The Flipkart listing suggests that an official announcement could be close, with more details likely to emerge over the coming days.
POCO M8x 5G India launch teased
The POCO M8x, visible in a green shade, has a simpler rear design than the M8 Power, with a smaller camera island and two visible camera cutouts. POCO has not confirmed what these cameras will be, although the setup could follow the company’s approach with the M8 Power, which combines a 50MP primary camera with a lower-resolution auxiliary sensor. We also cannot rule out that the second camera could be a dummy cutout.
The rear panel also carries the POCO logo towards the bottom, while the flat frame appears to feature a gold accent that matches the camera module. It’s a fairly simple design, which fits the phone’s expected focus on affordability rather than a more elaborate finish.
The POCO M8x 5G appears to be positioned below the POCO M8 Power, which launched earlier this month at Rs 24,999. POCO has not yet confirmed the display, chipset, cameras or battery. The company has only teased the design and 5G support so far.
Expected specifications and price range
According to tipster Yogesh Brar, the POCO M8x 5G could feature a 6.9-inch HD+ IPS LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate and a current OEM-favourite, the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset. The reported configuration includes 4GB RAM and 128GB storage, with expandable storage also expected. The phone is said to pack a 6,000mAh battery with 33W charging and run HyperOS 3. For context, the M8 Power offers a larger 6.9-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 processor, 8,000mAh battery, up to 8GB RAM and 128GB UFS 2.2 storage, but costs Rs 24,999.
The tipster also claims the POCO M8x 5G will be priced below Rs 20,000. A sub-Rs 20,000 price would therefore make the M8x a more direct option for buyers considering affordable 5G phones from Redmi, Realme, Lava and Motorola. The reported HD+ LCD and 4GB RAM suggest that POCO may be making some compromises to reach that price, though the 6,000mAh battery, 120Hz display and expandable storage could still make it appealing for everyday users.
If POCO manages to keep the M8x below Rs 20,000 while retaining the reported battery and 120Hz refresh rate, it could become the more accessible M8-series option, while the M8 Power remains the choice for buyers willing to spend more on its AMOLED display and larger battery.
