Motorola Edge 70 Pro roundup: launch date, specifications, expected price in India, and more

The upcoming Motorola Edge 70 Pro is expected to be the brand’s most capable mid-range smartphone, positioned above the standard Edge 70 (review), which currently starts at Rs 29,999 in India. It will succeed the Edge 60 Pro (review), launched last year. While Motorola has maintained aggressive pricing across its recent launches, early expectations suggest the Edge 70 Pro may not follow the same pricing strategy as its predecessor. Here’s a quick roundup of the Edge 70 Pro, including its key specifications, potential competitors, launch time, and more.

Motorola Edge 70 Pro launch date and time

The Motorola Edge 70 Pro India launch date is April 22nd. The handset will be unveiled at 12:00 pm (IST), and you can follow all the updates via the company’s social media account and even check its YouTube channel for livestreaming. As always, we will be covering the launch, so stay tuned to 91mobiles.

Motorola Edge 70 Pro price in India (expected)

The Motorola Edge 70 Pro is likely to be competitive, but not as much as its predecessor, the Edge 60 Pro. The latter was introduced in 2025 with a sticker price of Rs 29,999. Since the regular Edge 70 is now selling at that price, expect the Edge 70 Pro price in India to be higher. Industry factors such as ongoing RAM and storage supply constraints are likely to impact overall costs, potentially resulting in a higher launch price.

We speculate it to be anywhere between Rs 35,000 and Rs 40,000. That said, the final pricing details remain unconfirmed, and more clarity is expected closer to the official launch.

Motorola Edge 70 Pro design and colour options

Motorola has started teasing the Edge 70 Pro via its official social media handles and online retail partner, Flipkart. The handset will be available in three Pantone-certified colour choices: lily white, tea, and titan. All three colour options will have different finishes, with a satin luxe finish on the tea option being a new one. The titan will have a familiar fabric finish, while the lily white will be in a marble finish.

The Edge 70 Pro’s design is identical to the regular Motorola Edge, with a squircle camera module housing four rings – three for camera sensors and one for the LED flash. There will be the Motorola dimple at the centre of the back panel, and the phone will be slightly curved from the edges. The front will sport a centred punch-hole near-bezel-less display, while on the right edge, you have buttons for volume and power. The left spine features a Moto AI key.

The handset will be IP68 and IP69 water- and dust-resistant, and drop-resistant with MIL-STD-810H military-grade durability. A Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protects the display.

Motorola Edge 70 Pro specifications

While the Motorola Edge 70 Pro is yet to go official, its key specifications have already been confirmed. The smartphone will feature an upgraded MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Extreme chipset, marking a performance jump over the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 SoC used in the standard Edge 70.

Early benchmarks suggest the chipset could deliver AnTuTu scores of over 2.4 million, indicating a notable improvement in overall performance. Additionally, the handset will include a large 4,600mm2 vapour chamber cooling system to handle sustained workloads and improve thermal efficiency. The chipset is also said to enhance low light photography of the smartphone with its image processing.

In optics, the Motorola Edge 70 Pro features a triple rear camera setup, headlined by a 50MP Sony LYT710 primary sensor with OIS. This would be accompanied by a 50MP ultra-wide lens and an additional 3-in-1 light sensor, likely aimed at improving exposure and colour accuracy. For selfies and video calls, the handset is tipped to include a 50MP front-facing camera.

The primary sensor is an upgrade over the LYT700 sensor used in the previous Edge 60 Pro, with improvements promised in low-light photography and overall image processing. While there is no mention of a telephoto lens, the smartphone will come with auto macro vision and 4K 60 fps video recording support.

The smartphone sports a 6.8-inch 1.5K AMOLED display that bears up to 144Hz refresh rate and 5,200 nits peak brightness. It will be powered by a large 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery, backed by 90W fast charging support. Motorola claims a full charge on the Edge 70 Pro will last over two days of usage. Binding everything together is Hello UI layered atop Android 16 out of the box. The Edge 70 Pro is promised to receive three major OS upgrades and five years of security updates.

Motorola Edge 70 Pro competitors

The Motorola Edge 70 Pro feels like an iterative upgrade over its predecessor. There are a few downgrades with missing wireless charging and no confirmation on telephoto lens yet, but there are upgrades in performance and battery life, which could make it a good buy for users upgrading from a couple of generation old devices.

However, the Motorola Edge 70 Pro will have a lot to prove, especially given its expected price hike and increasingly competitive segment. If the speculative pricing hold, it will go up against the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro (review), OnePlus Nord 6 (review), and Redmi Note 15 Pro+ (review). While it may not match the raw power of the OnePlus Nord 6, the Edge 70 Pro should still deliver solid day-to-day performance, thanks to its Dimensity 8500 Extreme chipset.

On the camera front, the handset should handle point-and-shoot photography reliably, though the absence of a dedicated telephoto lens could limit its zooming capabilities, particularly when compared to the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro, which offers optical zoom and greater flexibility.
