The thin smartphone trend remains strong, with Motorola being the latest entrant in this segment. The Edge 70 is Motorola’s ultra-slim smartphone, measuring 5.99mm thin. It’s one of the thinnest smartphones available, joining the iPhone Air, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, and the Tecno Pova Slim. The Motorola Edge 70 is also one of the most affordable in the group, priced at Rs 29,999.
In addition to a slim design, the Edge 70 is also light, weighing 159g, and highly durable with an IP68+69 rating for dust and water resistance. You also get an aircraft-grade aluminium build with Gorilla Glass 7i protection and Military-Grade protection. Powering the Edge 70 is the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, a good midrange chipset for day-to-day usage. The handset also has a vapour cooling chamber, which should help with heat dissipation during gaming. Its real-world performance and benchmark results are something we’ll reveal soon in our detailed review.
The Edge 70 houses a dual-camera setup at the back with a 50MP primary sensor and a 50MP ultra-wide camera. It also gets a 50MP camera up front for selfies. This camera setup does seem lacking as its predecessor, the Motorola Edge 60, has a triple-camera setup with a 10MP telephoto lens up to 3x optical zoom. The lack of a telephoto lens would mean you lose out on good zoom photography and a versatile camera setup, overall.
The smartphone is backed by a 5,000mAh battery, slightly higher than the Edge 70’s global variant, which carries a 4,800mAh battery. For a slim phone, this battery capacity seems decent since the iPhone Air and S25 Edge offer significantly smaller batteries. However, if we compare it to rivals in the same segment, the Edge 70’s 5,000mAh battery might seem smaller, as most phones now offer between 6,000mAh and 7,000mAh batteries. The Edge 70 comes with 68W fast charging support and 15W wireless charging as well.
Up front, the Motorola Edge 70 features a 6.7-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with 4,500 nits peak brightness. On the software front, the Edge 70 runs Hello UI based on Android 16 out of the box. The smartphone will get 3 OS upgrades and 4 years of security patches. The handset also comes with several AI features such as AI Image Studio, AI Playlist Studio, Moto AI, and more.
The Motorola Edge 70 comes in a single 8GB + 256GB variant priced at Rs 29,999. It can be purchased with a bank offer of Rs 1,000 starting December 23rd on Flipkart, Motorola.in, and at leading retail stores across India.
The Edge 70 definitely stands out for its slim design, which will not only look good, but give a good in-hand feel too. It also offers a good set of specifications for a mid-range phone, but its cameras and battery capacity might feel inferior to rivals. If you’ve been wanting a slim smartphone, then the Motorola Edge 70 might be your best candidate right now, given its specifications and pricing. However, for a more value-for-money mid-range phone, you might want to check out other options offering better hardware.
