Motorola Signature India box price leaks, points to a higher-than-expected premium

Highlights
  • Motorola Signature is tipped to launch in India on January 23rd.
  • The smartphone is Motorola’s premium offering.
  • Its leaked box pricing suggests a very steep number for the Motorola Signature.

Motorola Signature made its debut at CES 2026 last week as the brand’s latest entry into the premium smartphone segment. Motorola has so far catered to the mid-range segment with only its foldables in the premium category. The Signature is expected to launch in India as well, and on January 23rd. Its official release date and pricing details are yet to be revealed. Motorola Signature has been teased on Flipkart, accompanied by a dedicated microsite for the smartphone. Ahead of the India launch, the alleged box price of the Motorola Signature has been leaked on X. This gives us an idea of what to expect when the phone finally debuts here.

According to a post on X by tipster Sanju Choudhary, the Motorola Signature is said to carry a box price of Rs 84,999 for the 16GB + 1TB variant. This would be the top-end variant in the lineup. The online price is expected to be lower than the box price, but the figure still indicates that the Signature will be positioned squarely in the flagship segment.

For context, the Motorola Signature is priced at 899 euros (around Rs 94,000) in global markets for the base 12GB RAM + 512GB storage variant. Taken together, these prices suggest that the Motorola Signature is not just a premium offering, but one that comes with a clearly premium price tag as well. It’s already known that smartphone prices have received a hike with rising component costs. However, with sub-flagship specifications, the Motorola Signature’s pricing would need more justification, if the leak is to be believed.

Motorola Signature features a 6.8-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate, 6,200 nits peak brightness, and Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support, as well as Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection as well. You’re getting a good set of features with the 165Hz refresh rate expected to offer an elevated gaming experience. The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC, which is based on the flagship 8 Elite Gen 5 and is close in performance as well. This has been proven on the OnePlus 15R, so regular or heavy-duty usage shouldn’t be an issue with the Motorola Signature.

The smartphone houses a 50MP OIS Sony Lytia 828 sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP 3x periscope telephoto lens for the rear setup. Up front, it sports a 50MP front camera for selfies and video calling. It’s a 50MP quad-camera setup on the Signature, and the specifications look promising for photography enthusiasts. The handset packs a 5,200mAh battery, which seems like a decent capacity, but might feel lacking against most new phones offering upwards of 7,000mAh. Even flagships offer 7,000mAh batteries now, so those who prioritise endurance may not be satisfied with the Signature.

Software is given a big boost with seven years of OS and security updates. The smartphone is also running the latest Android 16 out of the box. Motorola Signature also gets a premium design with a leather finish, measures just 6.99mm in thickness, and weighs just 186 grams.

The Motorola Signature does offer a premium set of specifications, which is expected to translate into real-world use. However, its expected pricing might deter buyers, especially in India. If the Signature is priced in the sub-Rs 80,000 segment, then its specifications may fall short against flagship phones, which offer better hardware. This is something we’ll be able to judge when the official pricing is released.

Anyone planning to buy the Motorola Signature may want to consider the price and also what it offers against rivals. If you’re looking for a flagship, then alternatives are recommended for better value. So, it really depends on how Motorola plans to price the Signature in India.
