The slim phone trend continues with the X70 Air, Motorola’s slimmest smartphone yet. The smartphone measures just 5.99mm in thickness, making it nearly as slim as the iPhone Air (5.6mm) and Galaxy S25 Edge (5.8mm). What sets the Motorola X70 Air apart is its larger battery and expected lower price compared to the iPhone Air and Galaxy S25 Edge. While Motorola hasn’t officially launched the phone yet, all its details are already live on Lenovo’s China website.
The Motorola X70 Air isn’t the thinnest of the three, but it is the lightest, weighing 159g, compared to the iPhone Air’s 165g and the S25 Edge’s 163g. The difference is small, but their designs stand out. The X70 Air sports Motorola’s signature look with a square camera module, soft edges, and Pantone-inspired colours. Notably, it switches to a flat display, marking a big change from the curved screens Motorola has used for years. It features a 6.7-inch 1.5K OLED panel (2712 x 1220 pixels) with a 120Hz refresh rate and 4,500 nits peak brightness.

The battery capacity on the Motorola X70 Air is 4,800mAh, which is comparatively bigger than Samsung’s 3,900mAh capacity and Apple’s 3,149mAh battery. Both phones require a charge at least once a day or more, depending on your usage. The X70 Air’s battery capacity isn’t impressive either, as 5,000mAh has become a relatively standard capacity for most phones. However, considering its slim form factor, it’s still commendable. It also offers fast charging at 68W and 15W wireless charging support.
The smartphone has a 50MP primary camera and a 50MP 120-degree ultra-wide camera at the back. There’s a 50MP front camera for selfies. It’s missing a telephoto lens, though, which is surprising as its supposed successor, the Motorola Edge 60, has one.
Under the hood of the phone runs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, a fairly decent chipset that delivers good sustained performance. The Motorola X70 Air also features a 3D vapour chamber for cooling, which should help sustain long gaming sessions. The phone is available with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB or 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Motorola has launched the X70 Air in three Pantone colours: Gadget Gray, Lily Pad, and Bronze Green. Each model has a different accent colour around the camera rings and the power button as well.
The Motorola X70 Air is set to go on sale in China on October 31st. It’s expected to launch as the Motorola Edge 70 outside China. The global debut could take place on November 5th as Motorola has teased a new Edge smartphone for the European market.
The Motorola X70 Air (or Edge 70 globally) shapes up to be an interesting mid-range option for those who value sleek design without straying into premium territory. Motorola’s focus here is clear: it wants to make slim phones practical again, combining a refined aesthetic with decent hardware at an attainable price. If it lands under Rs 30,000 in India, the Edge 70 could appeal to buyers who prioritise portability and design flair over camera versatility or raw battery power. It’s a smart move from Motorola to differentiate itself in a segment where most brands still chase performance numbers over everyday elegance.
