The Motorola Edge 70 (review), the brand’s first ultra-slim smartphone, is now officially on sale in India starting today. The phone positions itself as a lifestyle-focused device with excellent ergonomics and a vibrant display. With its official launch back on 15th December, it is now available nationwide to buyers looking for something comfortable yet capable in the mid-range segment.

The Motorola edge 70 is available in a single 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant and comes in three premium Pantone-curated colours: Bronze Green, Lily Pad, and Gadget Grey. You can purchase the device through Flipkart, Motorola.in, and at leading retail stores across India at a launch price of Rs 29,999. There’s also an additional Rs 1,000 discount which brings the effective price of the device to just Rs 28,999. For those unaware, let’s take a look at what the device has on offer:

Motorola Edge 70 specifications and features

The key attraction of the Motorola Edge 70 is its design. The phone is amazingly thin at just 5.99mm, which puts it only slightly above the iPhone 17 Air’s 5.64mm and the Galaxy S25 Edge’s 5.8mm. While it is a hair thicker, it weighs only 159 grams, making it lighter than both the iPhone Air and the Galaxy S25 Edge. This should make it excellent in hand for comfort and ergonomics and you likely won’t even feel it in your pockets.

The device also checks several important boxes for durability. The phone is also fully water- and dust-resistant, with IP68 and IP69 ratings, so you can rest assured it is well protected. Additionally, the MIL-STD-810H certification, while often used as a marketing highlight, indicates that the device has been tested against specified drops, shocks, and environmental conditions, giving it greater credibility for daily use

The Motorola Edge 70 is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, paired with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. This is certainly not the most powerful chipset in its price bracket, but it still offers more than enough muscle for day-to-day tasks, heavy multitasking, and even demanding games when tuned right. The phone also features an advanced vapour-chamber cooling system, which should help it maintain performance during longer gaming sessions without overheating.

On the AI side, the dedicated AI key integrates with the chipset’s on-device intelligence, enabling access to Moto AI 2.0, Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, and Perplexity for a more flexible AI experience. This combination should make the Edge 70 a reliable performer overall, even if it does not lead in benchmark numbers.

The Motorola Edge 70 features a strong camera setup for its segment, with three 50MP AI cameras. The rear features a 50MP OIS main camera paired with a 50MP ultra-wide camera that also doubles as a macro shooter, while the front camera is 50MP and supports up to 4K 60fps video recording. You also get a bunch of AI-assisted tools like AI Video Enhancement, AI Action Shot, AI Adaptive Stabilisation, and AI Group Shot, along with Google Photos features such as Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, and Magic Editor for editing. If you want to know how this hardware actually performs, you can check out the detailed camera analysis in our in-depth review of the Motorola Edge 70.

The Motorola Edge 70 gets a lot of its day-to-day appeal from its battery and display package. Despite its ultra-thin profile, it packs a 5,000mAh silicon-carbon battery that is claimed to deliver up to 40 hours of use on a single charge under ideal conditions. You also get 68W fast wired charging, 15W wireless charging, and even reverse charging support, so topping up or powering accessories is fairly convenient.

On the visual side, the phone features a 6.7-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and a 100 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut. Motorola also claims a high peak brightness of 4,500 nits, which should help with outdoor visibility, while the stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio aim to round out the multimedia experience.

The device runs Hello UI based on Android 16 out of the box and is promised to receive 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security patches, which is about standard for this price segment. With all the specs and features out of the way, it now comes down to one question:

Should you buy the Motorola Edge 70?

Yes, the Motorola Edge 70 is a great pick if you care most about comfort and design. It is exceptionally slim and lightweight, has a vibrant display, decent performance, all-day battery life with fast charging, and cameras that are good enough for everyday use. However, there are some drawbacks, as noted in our review. The phone’s audio output is not great, and the speakers sound flat, while videos occasionally turn out choppy, which can be a bummer if you shoot a lot of content.

If ergonomics and comfort are not top priorities, there are better alternatives at a similar price, such as the OnePlus Nord 5 (review) and Motorola’s own Edge 60 Pro (review), which offer stronger overall value. The Edge 70 is best suited for users who prioritise ergonomics and a lifestyle-focused phone over raw power and maximum value for money.
